Madden '08

Anybody reserve Madden '08 yet? Who plans on getting it and for what system?

I'm going to be very unproductive upon the release of this game :D

I plan on getting it for the PS3 depending on cash flow. I have madden 07 but I want:

LAIR, GTA4, RE5, Guitar Hero 3, Killzone 2, and MGS4 all within the next 8 or so months.

Thats about $425 worth of games and I'll be spending about $350 on my trip to myrtle beach. Wouldn't be a problem, but I'm starting college in a month =(

We'll see if madden fits into the budget or not.

What makes you say it'll run better on 360?

The heavenly sword demo was graphically stunning but game play wise its another button masher and those just don't interest me. This and ninja gaiden have really amazing game engines, too bad they didn't use them for a game I'd play.

madden is running at 60fps on 360 this year, 30fps on ps3. you really think ninja gaiden and heavenly sword are button mashers? take the time to learn the moves, its worth it. you won't get very far at all in ninja gaiden just mashing buttons. i can't speak for heavenly sword, but i'd say it'll be similar.

I stopped playing video games since lifting began. In Madden 05, I used Philly. In Madden 06, I used Ravens. You don't want to mess with my 06 Ravens. You will be lucky to score 3 points. I am a legend in the PS2 online version of Madden 06. Look for me. :D I took Madden 06 to the illmathematical systematically chesslike predictionary game level. :D

Just upgraded my graphics card for my computer and I'm finally able to play fable; the lost chapters at 1680x1050 :D So no xbox for a little while.

The new game does look sweet! The namco bandai games from this years e3 also look promising. Mass effect is going to take my life away for a least a few months, my copy of the book arrives on monday!

I'll probably be playing Madden online occasionaly. Usually I buy it the minute it comes out (no exaggeration), but I sold my 360 a while ago.... so I'll be playing at my freinds' house as often as possible.

I will probably buy it the day it comes out. No need to reserve it around here (this is Canada... not the same football fever).

Overall, I haven't been too happy with Madden 07 or 06.

I *loved* 2005 because of the upgrades to the defense. The Hit Stick was a great addition and the ability to call defensive hot routes was a great addition.

2006 I didn't particularly like although "Superstar Mode" had some interest although it was not yet ready for primetime IMHO. I find the "QB Vision Cone" annoying and although I dont' like the ability (without the cone) to throw crossfield crossbody passes with ease, I think that the control for the cone is too fussy.

2007: I like lead blocker control a lot and will often use it to support off tackle runs with my fullback or a faster pulling guard, because the AI seems to be kinda fubared for that and often will miss lurking LBs in the flats and run past them. The Vision Cone is still annoying to use (I play on All Madden normally so it has to be on) but it seems to be better this season. As usual the soundtrack is total ass -- neither the crappy pop/rock tunes nor the boring rap is of interest to me. Fortunately there is more of the "NFL Films" style music which I can use. I'd rather listen to the instrumentals than the awful tracks from wanktastic bands like "30 Seconds to Mars" and "Dashboard Confessional" while I'm trying to play some football.

So it looks like it still isnt to the point of greatness from the reviews that I've read so far, its good, but not great. IGN gave it a 8.7 (only .2 points better than last year...) and gamespot gave it 8.5, which seems alot better than the 7.9 it got from them the last go around.

I still havent decided if I'll pick up a copy tomarrow or not.

ps3 is 30fps. check out the ign review. they say it looks pretty bad, gave it a 6.5 for graphics. 360 got a 9.

They way overcomplicated the Madden games which took all the fun out of it. Madden '95 for the Genesis was and still is the best sports game ever made. :D

Its a port of the 360 version, developers (mainly EA and for some dumb reason) won't do the game twice. They make it for 360 and do the quickest port job they can.

The 360 has a 12 month lead, some PS3 games are already on par graphic wise with the 360.

This isn't fanboy talk, this is all from a logical point of view. If your going to do a "fair" comparison, compare some of the launch 360 titles to madden 07 and Resistance Fall of Man. Thats right, there is no comparison because the launch 360 titles were almost all ****ty ports of sports games from the xbox.

Its very believable, the consoles a year younger and EA's stupid in the face.

I don't think alot of "gamers" know what porting is lol. Ubisoft and EA are known for this. They just wanna make some quick buck so they port games they developed for 360, instead of doing it over again. I dont this will last long tho as more games developed specifically for ps3 come out. One of the reasons why I'm not too excited about gta4 for ps3.

GTA4 should have been developed FOR the PS3 as rockstar did most of their work for the SONY franchise. I would be shocked if the PS3 edition was a 360 port.

it is a lil diff ill agree, but most of its gameplay is the same i think... hot routes, audibles, jukes, spins, hit stick. the stiff arm and speed burst changed spots, and the play calling is a lot different, but once u get used to it, it's a lot better i think, especially the recent plays, and picking by play type is great. BTW the patriots are unstoppable, I beat my friend online last night 3 games in a row and mercied him at half time of our first ranked game :strong:

In 08 whenever I go for a stiff arm I end up lateraling the ball into a pack of the other team lol. My buddies all say the same about once u get used to it it's 10 times better gameplay and graphics.

Oh one thing I can't stand on defense is if you go by the guy you want to control, usually the mlb, you have to scroll through the whole team to get back and by that time the ball is more than likely snapped already. In 07 you could hit either X or O to go back and forth....

and yes the Pats are a cheat team lol. Denver is pretty good too.
