Yeah, that looks good. Downey Jr. looks like a great casting choice.

Tony Stark = alcoholic
Robert Downey Jr = alcoholic
Tony Stark = Robert Downey Jr
I'd say it was indeed a good casting choice

We'll see what happens. Could be good, could suck ass.

im getting tired of comic book story lines being turned into movies. Unless someone can make a movie that is creative and captures the comics form, and show it on the big screen. Like Sin city did with the screen changes, the actions, etc. Studios are just trying to cash in on a trend with out any creative or artistic integrity.
Im intrested in the new batman. IF they make it dark enough.

OMG! Studios are in business to make money? No wai!
The business of business is business. That's why it's called show business.

They are trying to do every comic now and it makes for poor movies. Ghost Rider was my favorite comic as a kid, but it adapts horribly on film and shouldn't have been made. The Hulk was terrible.
However, X-Men has been so incredible that it's worth a shot to try others. This one actually looks promising. And much like the Fantastic Four, I hated that comic book, but it made a decent couple of films. This should do the same.
Everyone inteprets a comic differently... just as everyone inteprets a movie differently... it's the beauty of fantasy, imagination and not having the ability to actually live the role.
IronMan looks like it will be a good one.. but then, that will be your intepretation when it comes out. I've appreciated most of the comic movies seperate from their corresponding comic books. Creative license.
Although I was most disappointed by the new Superman (too many holes in the movie itself) and the Hulk (the graphics just didn't work for me)... most of the others IMO have been decent to good to even great...

It should be interesting to see what happens when they run out of recognizable comic book characters to make movies about.
I am IRON MAN!
Has he lost his mind? Can he see or is he blind?
Sorry, saw the title and thought of the song haha.

they will move on to something else, like 1960/70s sit coms. who wouldnt want to see a Gilligan's Island moive or a green acres film.
I tell you what I would like to see, a full house moive. You could have Danny Tanner telling D*** and fart jokes while the Olson twins make-out to the Jesse and the Rippers soundtrack. That would be worth the $8.75

I don't know about that. He's already "Blade".
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Avery Brooks as Jim Rhodes/War Machine were that to come about. Though he's a little old (so is Snipes, though).

As long as the action shown in the trailer isn't it for the entire movie I'm going to be happy. Downy's line delivery screamed Tony Stark to me... if he can keep that up and mix genius inventor in with the snarky playboy/businessman it could be one of Marvel's best adaptations. It's already leaps and bounds ahead of staying truer to the source material than Spiderman was.

Yeah Iron Man was good! I didnt go into it with high expectations... just like almost every other Marvel movie... but I was pleasantly surprised to see that the acting was good, and had great character development.
And about the Dark Knight, I am STOKED to see it... Heath seems like he is the perfect fit for the joker... I dont think that movie will let anyone down.

all marvel movies upto iron man were funded by the big video corps so the movies were made the way they wanted them. Apparently iron man is teh first movie out that is completely owned and funded by marvel so naturally it will rock. Next up will be the hulk and i've read somewhere there will be a cammio by ironman in that movie, i think it was rottentomatos. Who wouldve thought? you spend 50 years building up a fan base with books then when people forget how to read you switch over to movies and make more money in one weekend than your entire existence before. very cool.

Yea I haven't heard one complaint about this movie yet I'm very surprised. I'm glad to hear Marvel is making the movies themselves, the worse thing they do with these movie is move away from the orginal story line. I don't mind if there are a few things off here and there but anymore then that and it starts to ruin the movie.

Saw it last night...overall I will say it was awesome. The special effects were perfect, story line was decent. I never really followed the original comic book but I would say it is like batman, robocop and transformers all spawned together.

Marvel Studios Sets Four More Release Dates!
Source: Marvel Entertainment
May 5, 2008
Marvel Entertainment released their first quarter report to its shareholders this morning to coincide with the announcement about the success this past weekend of Marvel Studios' first production Iron Man, which grossed an estimated $104.2 million domestically and over $201 million worldwide. The announcement included an update of Marvel Studios' feature film slate with the already-rumored Iron Man 2 announced for a release on April 30, 2010, followed by three more movies for the summers of '10 and '11. Matthew Vaughn's Thor is set for a release on June 4, 2010, and The First Avenger: Captain America (the working title) will kick off the summer of 2011 on May 6, followed by the highly-anticipated and foreshadowed The Avengers scheduled for July 2011. (Edgar Wright's Ant-Man is also listed as being in development with no release date set.)
In a conference call this morning, Marvel Studios' David Maisel said that Iron Man 2 will be used to introduce Thor. Regarding more "Hulk" movies, Maisel said "We definitely plan on continuing." He added that development continues on Spider-Man 4. "I can't give any other updates other than to say it's in development and everybody's excited about 'Spider-Man 4,'" he said.
With that in mind, one can start expecting a lot more announcements in the coming months about creative teams and casting for those movies including who might direct the Captain America and Avengers movies. (Whomever plays Steve Rogers AKA Captain America presumably will be making two movies at once.)

Who on Earth is Ant Man? Why do they sometimes pick more random characters when some of the basic blue-chip characters still haven't gotten movies yet?

I have to admit I was skeptical of Iron Man. I got roped into going with some powerlifting friends and was definitely pleasantly suprised. There was a real story there, good character development, and excellent effects that never detracted from the story. There was even a palpable flirtatious but alluring tension between Stark and Ms. Potts that was magnificent. Sort of a Bond, Moneypenny thing going there, but deeper.
The only thing that annoyed me was the 8 previews (though I liked the Dark Knight one) and I thought the little bit after the credit was pretty inane and superfluous.

Overall I thought it was a good movie. The action was cool and yougotta love the development of the suit/testing. However there were some very bothersome parts to me.
************SPOILER ALERT*********************
Near the end when Ms. Potts have to switch all of those switches...how would she know about allll of them. Obviously she doesnt know about Starks' projects because he didnt even tell her about the suit. Also, how didnt Tony get fried on the roof but "the dude" did. I dont get it. ONe more thing, when he first escapes the camp and is burning the hell out of all the weapons he is basically incased in fire yet there are no protection for his eyes...they wouldve just burneddddd.
*****************************************************
Those were my only complaints, just small insignificant things that are easily overlooked due to the quality of the rest of the movie. Overall, pretty darn awesome.
He shouldve kept the suit silver.

I completely agree I've never heard of Antman, I'd like to see a movie about "Cable" from xmen. The punisher was pretty good but I thought he killed people a lot more not sure though never really read any punisher comic books or anything.

The whole point of overloading the reactor was to overload Iron Monger's arc reactor. Tony's arc reactor was completely out of power at that point, so the blast of energy, instead of overloading it, charged it up and sent him flying, while the energy overloaded the already filled reactor in Stane's suit and killed him with the excess energy flow.

Watched it on Saturday great movie, and loved the scene after the credits rolled.
What I didn't need was 6 commercials before the previews started, it seems to keep getting worse and wonder when watching a movie in the theatre will be like watching it on TV with commercial interuptions.
I liked it. Took my 9 yr old, and she didn't get interested till 1/2 way through. Now I gotta take her to see it again cause she missed some stuff.

Ant-man was one of the original Avengers. Him and Wasp seem to have been forgotten by younger generations, while Iron Man and the Hulk have risen to first-rate stars. Thor is somewhat hit or miss, if you ask me...
