Currently prior to bed I drink a protein shake with 5g glutamine in 4% milk. Any suggestions? Is this a good combo? Should I switch milk for flax?

Sounds fine to me. The flax sounds pretty damn nasty.

I would switch to skim milk with your protien shake(4% milk has to much saturated fat) and take the flax separatly.

it'd be better to take in flax instead of the saturated fat in milk.

but i'd rather not take in so much flax at one go. Like all good things, it should be in moderation

go with the skim milk and flax combo

The flax, sounds like a new found laxitive if you drink a full glass. Stick with whatcha got...

Oh my lord. I can't even imagine taking anymore then a tablespoon of flax at a time.

Flax oil makes me wanna puke. I take a tbsp. postworkout, according to NHE, otherwise I wouldnt because of its potential to slow the absorption of protein, and it makes me sick!

boys,:eek: :eek: :eek: I should have been more descriptive or y'all aren't to swift. I'm drinking the milk as a source of fat, I was thinking of changing to flax as the fat source ( 1 tbsp) added to the shake

I'm confused y'all didn't realize thats what I meant

well, you'd want protein too before bed dont you?

5g glutamine alone won't cut it.

depending on what macronutrients u want:

1 tb flax + 5g glut + 1 scp protein = 15g fat, 25g protein
1 tb flax + 5g glut + 1 cup skim milk = 15g fat, 15g protein, 10g carb

whichever way, i'd still omit the saturated fat from the 4% milk
