hey all,
I want to eat a balanced diet for maintainance calories (3,000 - 3,200).
Could you suggest some cheap diets that don't include simple carbs or fatty greasy hamburger meat?
I have a stash of multivitamins, so for now, they may replace some forms of veggies and fruits.
thanks,
poor ol' boy (for the next 2 months)

These are all relatively cheap:
eggs
boneless skinless chicken breast
wheat bread
oatmeal
peanuts
turkey and ham deli meats
potatoes
brown rice
add to that list
sweet potatoes
peanut butter
cottage cheese

i'm going to calculate, using excel, how much it will cost to eat for a month, on a "cheap" diet.

I usually spend $200 at most a month and end up with plenty of chicken. lean steak, turkey burgers, broccoli, strawberries, blueberries, deli meat and cheese, whole grain bread, whole wheat pasta, eggs, milk, and natty peanut butter

how much are lean steaks and turkey burgers per pound?
Maybe i could get some frozen veggies and fruits, to save a few bucks

Cheap cuts of beef (ex flank steak) are very good, but require a lot of cooking/marinading time. I like to cook whole chickens - if you don't want the skin, just take it off.
Generally, the more work you're willing to put into preparing the meal, the cheaper it will be.
