Well im 19 and my parents decided to give me an old car... a 1998 Buik Regal. Im not a car guy, so perhaps some of you can give me some info on these vehicles? Perhaps personal experiences?

Give it a 9'' lift, get some 37's on it and take that sucker to the dirt.

My parents gave my brother a 1987 buick regal his senior year (1994). Man did he hate that car. My dad later sold it to a coworker of his. Last we heard the driver door literally fell off.

Is the Regal a GS or regular?

The '97-2003 GM W-bodies, which I'm pretty sure the Regal is classified as (same chassis as the Grand Prixs, Monte Carlos etc.), are pretty good vehicles. The Pontiacs are usually known for electrical problems (i.e shorts and such), but the Buicks and Chevys are pretty good vehicles. If you have the 3.8L V6 it's a strong engine, it'll run forever, but don't drive it too crazy because the trannys suck balls in general.

Edit: If it's the GS with the S/c'd 3.8..DEFINITELY don't drive it hard as the trannys suck particularly when under a load of 60 more ft.-lbs of torque. I had a supercharged 97 Grand Prix with some **** done to it, and my tranny hated me lol

talking - unless they changed it with the new models, it was G body in the 80's

buicks usually ride pretty nice, should be a good car man.

They're SO awesome. Those and the 86 Monte Carlo SS...and the 86 Fiero GT's were the coolest more common 80's cars. The GNX had some BALLS though...I wish they kept the performance 3.8L with the turbo rather than a supercharger. Bad idea on GM Performance's part lol

Hell yes..stock they run mid 13's. Although kind of boxy, I think they look pretty BA too..but like I said, I'm partial to them and the Monte Carlos lol

What to do with your old Buick? Let RhodeHouse lift it up and down for 8-12 reps.

Best,

If you're drunk and drive your T-Type into a 10ft. deep ditch nose first, you'll have to have it pulled out with a big tow truck. Don't ask me how I know this.

'98 Buick Regal? It's an old person car, so I'd recommend you start coloring your hair white and listening to big band music regularly. Purchase a walker, too. You also have to drive at least 5-10 UNDER the speed limit and leave your turn signal on at all times. These are the unspoken rules for Buick drivers (Grand National excluded). :D

Seriously, I'd do anything I could to that car to make it NOT resemble an old person car. Get some nice rims and aggressive summer tires, first of all. Get a good dark tint job done. Then see if there are any other tasteful mods out there that you can do ("tasteful" being the key word).

I once had 91 toronado trofeo with a 3.8 in it and ran it up to 175k. I heard about two other guys who had it up over 250k miles without any engine work.
That car was schweet tho. Corvette suspension, electric EVERYTHING (this thing practically made you coffee)
