Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard.

I have tried cookies n cream and currently use rocky road. The cookies n cream I had with milk, but the rocky road I consume with water.

2 scoops w/ 10-12 ounces. Tastes delicious! Kinda like yoo-hoo! Hope this helped.

Nitrean, Opticen, or MAXIMUS.

ON 100% Whey tastes...okay...as well. Not as great as Nitrean and definitely not as good as Opticen.

I'm with you, I typically don't like powder mixed with water. However I did find a few that are OK with water...

-Ultimate Nutrition Berry Blast Off

-ON Chocolate Mint

-On Tropical Punch

Mine tastes pretty good. It is the GNC brand protein.

Lol speaking of which there is a guy at my gym who can't taste anything. He eats so good it isn't funny.

Nitrean and Opticen taste awesome in water.

Seriously, I cannot stomach most shakes and never drink them with milk. Nitrean in water is definately the only shake I LIKE in water. Of course, I am biased, but give it a try yourself and I gaurantee you will not be dissapointed.

I think i'm turning into that guy. I'm eating some pretty bland stuff like a machine. The more healthy it tastes, the better I feel.

Atlarge's products are the only ones that I actually like with water. Some others are tolerable but not good. Nitrean and water actually taste good.

Hmm I don't mean to be a dick but I have been a past user of Nitrean... honestly it definitely does not taste better than ON, not even close!

I'm not judging the proteins based on any other factor right now than taste. Nitrean's taste is eh a little on the bad side. As far as taste is concerned, there are far more better tasting products out on the market.

Seriously I have tried Chocolate Nitrean, and if you think it tastes better than ON 100% Rocky Road you must not have taste buds!

I usually use vanilla Nitrean. I think it's great in water, but at night I'll usually take it with skim milk and that started to spoil me. I still like it in water but I get bored with it sometimes. Recently I've started to add just a small amount of sugar free jello pudding mix to it. Makes the just water shake a little more interesting and counter acts the small amount of "sweetness" lost with creatine mixed in.

Taste is subjective. We have MANY customers who feel our product tastes better than ON's. I am sure ON has many that like the taste of their product better than ours.

Either way, the general consensus is that both products taste great in water.

x2. I think I'm immune to the taste of any protein by now though, I don't even notice it.

Optimum nutrition isnt the highest quality protein, but its taste isn't bad in water. Unfortunately, the price has seemed to go up more for Optimum than other brands...

I've used just about every flavor of ON and I can say that hands down NITREAN tastes way better in just water

I don't think I've ever had a protein powder that tasted good in water. Nitrean is pretty close to the top as being "least likely to make me gag". In milk, now, I can drink Nitrean all day long.

That may not sound like a ringing endorsement, but it is. Like Chris said, taste is subjective.

From an MRP standpoint, I've had nothing that tastes as good as Opticen in water. The closest to it would have been strawberry myoplex from EAS (I don't even know if they make that any more, it's been years since I had it). From a nutritional and cost standpoint when coupled with taste, nothing touches Opticen.

ON 100% whey chocolate tastes good in water, but only if it's ice cold water.

Plug your nose and the taste goes away. The only one I've had to do this with was GNC garbage.

Oh yeah! Almost forgot my first protein I ever bought. GNC brand, past best before date, Tangy Peach Mango!
If you can drink that you are hardcore!
<<<<<<<<<< - Drank 5 - 2lbs'er of it, THAT stuff was beyond aweful. Made every powder since then taste good though:D

I'm on my 3rd brand of protein powder (Isopure, EAS, and now opticen) and I'm starting to get grossed out by this one too.

Swallowing each mouthful is torture.
I thought I'd change things up and added some nestle hot chocolate powder and it was still gross with a chocolate aftertaste.

Protein powder is a significant source of protein in my diet so I'm reluctant to give it up but I can't go on drinking it. Any recommendations?

p.s. I mix it in water.

Try the powder with Milk. Most people will agree that powder tastes better in milk.

Give ON Rocky Road a try with milk. I guarantee you'll like it.

Designer Protein... it actually tastes pretty okay in just water.

I've used strawberry and tropical (or fruit punch, whatever it called)... both taste fine in water.

We supplement with protein in the hopes of providing our body with the additional protein it needs to turn the stimulus we provide it in the gym into lean muscle tissue.

Taste is important because we will need to use said protein virtually every day and perhaps more than once per day. Opticen, MAXIMUS, and Nitrean are almost universally considered to be some of the best tasting protein products (in water or not) on the market.

Opticen, MAXIMUS, and Nitrean each have a protien blend that will provide your body with more usable amino acids on a gram for gram basis than just about anything out there. I have been saying this for years even in the beginning before protein blends were "fashionable". Science proves a blend is superior. Now, people like strength training legend Louie Simmons and magazines like Men's Health recognize the superiority of our product and recommend it. If you are going to supplement you should want to provide yourself the best chance to accomplish the goal you have with supplementing. Opticen, MAXIMUS, and Nitrean all do that with respect to protein supplementation.

I don't know how else to clearly state the truth. I hope those of you who have not tried the products will. When you do you will see why so many here and elsewhere rave about them. Chances are you will too! :D

Nitrean is as good as any protein powder ive ever had in water, and ive tried just about all of em.

Lately though i have taken a liking to Syntha 6, but it is pricey and is somewhat halfway toward being a MRP what with the efa content and all. Its not just protien. The Mochacino flavor is my personal fav for a breakfast shake on the way to work in the morning. Honestly though every flavor ive tried has been awesome.

I may have to give that a try. I found it online for around $20, which isn't too bad. Whey powder is starting to creep up to that price anyway.

Thanks

the thing about ON over some other protein drinks ive tried is the fact that one serving of ON is only a scoop in 6 ounces. i dont know what Nitreans serving size is, but 6 ounces of any protein isnt really all that bad
