Is there any sort of limit to drinking milk per day like there is for water? I drink 1% lowfat milk but I dont want to drink too much per day. I like milk so I can drink it alot.

That's good to hear.. especially since a cup is 8g's of Protein, this doesn't mean I'll start to drink a gallon a day but at least I can drink it whenever I want. :D

It has a lot of sugars in it, that's about the only issue. Drink up.

The sugars aid in Calcium absorption from my understanding. And the sugars are lower on the GI index if you care about that so much.

But, as it's been said before, if you eat anything else with it, GI means nothing.

Yeah, they do to an extent, but they still contribute a significant number of calories the more you drink. That's the only reason I could see anyone really caring about it.

I started taking 1 cup of milk with a scoop of protein powder three times a day and another cup of milk in my Special K in the morning. I figured that will require 2 gallons of milk a week. For one guy. :D

I think you should consider the micros when drinking milk.

Exactly, but if a person cares about the sugar in milk they've got problems lol. (assuming they're eating normally and not on UD2.0 or something.)

If a person were to get ANY sugar in their diet it should be from milk as calcium is one of the most under consumed minerals in North America (osteoporosis is on the rise!). Not to mention the added vitamin D allows for even better calcium absorption.

The problem vitamins+minerals... Calcium and Iron. Iodine is also up there.

There is no substitution for real milk. Calcium supplements suck.

I drink 1/2 a gallon of milk every day at least. That plus the 1/2 cup of unsalted peanuts or cashews I eat every day and that's a good amount of calories and protein right there.

as shark states GI means nothing in the scope of things, its a outdated concept at best

Insulin response to milk will be high due to the simple sugars. Also the fats in milk are damaged if you dont drink skimmed (look at homogenisation in general itll make your stomach turn)

Also most people will get stomach updets from all of the lactose in milk, just factor it in your diet. As for protein, there are better choices out there but if you enjoy it and dont have a issue with stomach problems due to the lactose then drink up
