How much does it weigh? http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=128

I tried to weigh it out at my house just now, and 200g of rice was a ton! I don't think I could have possibly ate of cup. Had to be off. Is 200g really a cup? I don't have measuring cups, nor do I want them, just wanted to see how much rice I was eating usually.

250 ml is a cup- and 200 grams of rice isnt a ton because its 200 grams.
just like saying 200 grams of feathers is the same as 200g of rocks.

I'm saying 200g looks like alot more then a cup of rice...Just wanted to make sure that # was right. Seemed like alot of rice on the plate for 1 cup.

Do you mean 200 grams of cooked or uncooked rice? 200 grams is roughly 7 oz.
If you are shooting to eat the normal serving size (1 cup cooked), that is roughly 1.75 oz (uncooked) -- closer to 50 grams -- when you measure it out. The weight is going to fluctuate once it's cooked depending upon how much water is absorbed by the rice.

1 cup cooked rice is approximately 185 grams.

1 Cup rice uncooked is approximately 57 grams.

So if I buy cooked brown rice from whole foods, there is no way to determine how much I'm eating since it's already cooked?

Get electronic food scale.

Put bowl on scale.

Turn on scale.

Make sure it is on grams (not ounces)

Put rice in bowl until the number comes out to 185.

Although, I highly doubt they are shipping cooked rice to you.

I go to the store and buy it...It's in a plastic container...Next to all kinds of other cooked foods.
