Healthy fats and easy calories. Just two tablespoons of the stuff is 239 calories and 27g of fat according to fitday.

why add olive oil to shakes?

Addition of fats/oils to food provide good "mouth feel."

And yes, mouth feel is a technical term. No joke.

so we should be adding 2 tablespoons to every protein shake? Or is it done only once a day?

what ever u are comfortable with...what ever it takes you to get the amount of calories you are shooting for in a day...personally i think 2 tablespoons is too much for me in a protein shake, but every1's different.

lol 5 teaspoons < 2 tablespoons

I don't add olive oil to shakes, I just take it straight from the spoon. Doesn't actually taste too bad.

Next time your shopping for Olive Oil in the states...

From Wikipedia

The United States is the only major oil-producing or oil-consuming country which is not a member of the IOOC, and therefore, the retail grades listed above have no legal meaning in the United States. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), which controls this aspect of labeling, currently lists four grades of olive oil: "Fancy", "Choice", "Standard", and "Substandard". These were established in 1948. [12] The grades are based on acidity, absence of defects, odor and flavor. While the USDA is considering adopting labeling rules that parallel the international standards, until they do so, terms such as "extra virgin" may be applied to any grade of oil, making the term of dubious usefulness.

I put 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a protein shake once and wanted to throw up. Tasted horrible. I've since stuck to peanuts/peanut butter for healthy fats.

Me too. Sometimes I fill up 1/4cup and drink that straight. I think the most I've drank is like 6tbsp or something. The first time I did it I wanted to puke, but it's not so bad now.

Real men take olive oil shots!

I put a tablespoon of olive oil in my mouth, take a big sip from a small glass of milk, shake my head alot, swallow, and I can barely taste the olive oil only milk. Been doing this for a year or so.

Some people say it tastes nasty.. not for me. It only adds a little flavor, and that little flavor tastes like old sock. Nice, clean calories. I believe its 125 calories per teaspoon.

I put PB and OIL to every shake. The pb neutralises all tastes and textures! PB is King (olive oil is but a prince)

I used to add EVOO to my shakes but then got sick of it and it made me dislike drinking shakes. It has it's place in almost everything else and if I need calories (from fat), I'll just add it to food.
