Is it necessary to refrigerate Natural PB? Regular PB doesn't need to be so I was wondering if it was really nessesary even though it says to on the container.

I do it. I don't think it's necessary, though.

I do it too, but mine says you don't have to. If you don't, the oil would probably separate again.

If it says to on the container, then I would confirm that on the internet before I put it in the refrigerator.

Its quite interesting actually. Many labels will tell you to store their products in the fridge. Why? Its not always because it needs to be colder, but because a product in the fridge is (statistically speaking) more likely to be seen, eaten up, and repurchased as compared to a product dusting away in the back of your pantry.

I like sticking it in the freezer, making nice PB popsicles.. natty style.

And sodium. Yuck.

I also stick my PB in the freezer if, after I stir it, I need to use it within a short time. It sucks spooning runny peanut butter into the blender.

That’s the reason I believe to be the difference as to why Natural says to and regular says not to. I was watching the show “How It’s Made” and it was on PB. They said Hydrogenated oil is added to PB to keep the oil from separating. This is the major difference between the two and so I figured that since Natural PB doesn’t have the Hydrogenated oils refrigeration was to prevent separation, not that it is necessary to prevent “spoiling”.

Some natty PBs don't need to be refrigerated, like Skippy Natural PB. The container will tell you if it needs to be refrigerated or not.
