I am currently on a clean bulk, eating around 3100-3200 cals, including 125-130 grams of fat, 210+ g protein, and 270-280 carbs, on average. I am 165 pounds and want to put on some muscle. However, it seems as if all I have put on is fat. My maintenance is around 2500. I've slowly increased my cals, 200 a week. I know calories are everything, but my question is am I eating too much fat or carbs?

Too many CALORIES make you fatter.

Hey, Built. I knew that lol. Is it possible that eating only 600 above maintenance is making me fatter? How much dietary fat is TOO much?

I really don't think it's reasonable to think of an upper limit. But if you are eating enough to gain muscle, you're gonna gain some fat along with it. You might want to go a little more carb heavy than fat heavy on a bulk, but it's really individual.

Basically, I guess that was what I was trying to ask, but I couldn't put it down for some reason, haha. Thanks, Built.

You are 17, 5 feet 10 inches, and 165 pounds?

Get the words 'clean bulk' removed from your vocabulary. Any time you think them, say them, or type them, poke yourself in the eye with a pencil.

Now go lift your ass off, and eat everything in sight. Stay active. If you train right and move around enough, you should be more than 200 pounds without getting much fatter in a year or less.
