View Full Version : OJ in Post Workout Shake ?

My post workout shake consists of 32g or protein from whey and 350ML of Orange Juice (30something g of carbs). Anybody see anything wrong with this ?
I usually eat 30-45 min after my workout a big carb and prot meal.

I'm on a cutting diet BTW.

OJ is made up of fructose, which goes straight to the liver glycogen stores, rather than that in your muscles.

whey protein is fine, in any case.

hmm so i should make the shake with water and then eat a whole wheat bagel?

argh.. i'm starting to get sick of oatmeal... i eat the crap for breakfast...

anything else I can eat/drink with my whey after workout ?

anyone? pleeeze =) ?

A suggestion:

Consume 1 cup Cranberry-Grape juice mixed with one cup water and 1 scoop protein immediately upon coming home after a work-out.

Within an hour eat a meal consisting of a complex carb. (potato, rice, etc.) and a protein source (chicken, beef, pork, etc.)

3 hours later another meal of complex. carbs. and protein.

Seems like this would meet the immediate needs of the body.

40 - 50g whey w/water. glass warm water w/70g dextrose and 5g creatine. = my post workout nosh.
