What supp do you guys recommend before bed? I'm in a bulking phase here but I also don't want to add too much fat b/c i've already added a bit. I heard of Mucletech Nighttime and Musclemilk. With the amount of fat in Musclemilk, would this not be a good route?

Thanks guys

If you have to ask questions like this then you don't have a good understanding of diet and nutrition. Do some more reading and get your diet set then you can worry about supplements. Musclemilk is nothing but liquid food.

My diet is perfect...I just dont know much about pre-bed intake. Do you eat something light, eat nothing, take supplements, etc?

Whatever fits into your diet plan. If it is perfect then you know exactly what macros you need before bed.

nobody's diet is perfect!

Anyways, Im assuming when you say night time supplements you arnt talking about sleep aids. So is your question what should i eat before bed?

If thats the case, just eat whatever fits your daily macros. You could pound a protein shake, Eat some cottage cheese or grab a steak.

The purpose of the forums is to discuss/ask questions/debate things pertaining to weight lifting, diet, etc. I dont see anything wrong with this question, and I dont understand why people are telling you to go search for yourself.

As for answering your question, it depends on how many calories you have consumed throughout your day. Most people agree that its not really when you eat, but how much you eat. If your diet plan asks for 2000 calories, and up until bed you have only eaten 1600, feel free to have a 400 calorie snack.

The best choice would most likely be a slow-absorbing protein rather than a whey or other fast absorbing proteins. Examples of slow absorbing proteins include chicken, fish , etc.

Hope this helps.
Take care,
Mike

Get some Nitrean and drink a shake mixed in water prior to bed. Nitrean is nearly pure protein and contains a blend of 3 fractions of whey (isolate, hydrolyzed, and concentrate), casein, and egg proteins. This blend provides for a steady stream of amino acids to be released into your bloodstream for several hours after ingestion. The fact Nitrean is just protein allows you to consume a significant amount of protein without the concurrent calories or fat you would get with foods.

Long story short, Nitrean will help you to add lean muscle assuming your are properly stimulating your musculature in the gym. Men's Health and Westside barbell both recommend it. Get some for yourself.

1 hour before on empty stomach: ETS or Calcium/magnesium/vitamin C

Right before Bed: Steak or chicken

Wouldnt it be better to take the ETS with food since both Calcium and Magnesium are fat soluble minerals?

Where did you read that Ca and Mg are fat soluble?

Seeing as how unabsorbed fatty acids in the gastrointestinal tract can interfere with calcium absorption through the formation of insoluble calcium soaps in the small intestine, which cannot be absorbed and are excreted in the feces...and since Mg reacts the same way with excess fatty acids.....I would say no.

Chris is right. Here's the WBB article that talks about it:

Whoops after looking at this site again, it looks as though its a mineral list not a fat soluble mineral list.

Milk contains whey and casien. So yes the casien protein in milk is a slower protein. I think your better off just eating cottage cheese or a casien supplement if you want to lower your carb intake, otherwise milk works great.
