You have to take it on off days. There's no debate against that.

is there a specific reason why you HAVE to take it on off days? i already take it on off days, with the exception of the days i forget to, but i was just curious as to why you have to?

in short. your trying to raise your creatine level in your body and maintane it there. Just like perscription pills.
Im epileptic so ill use dilantin as an example. I have to take 300mg of dilantin a day. If i forget to take a pill one day i may be fine, but my dilantin levels will drop. If they drop too low then i will have a seziure. There for i take my pills every day to keep everything at a normal level.
With creatien you want to supplement every day to keep your creatine level in your body high. Your body does produce creatine but stops after you start supplementing. Anobolics are similure, your body stops or slows down production of testosterone because your supplementing your body with synthetic test.

oh i see, thank you for your explaination...and a second question is how long does it take for your body to stop producing creatine or to slow down?

i'm not gonna make a new thread for this, but maybe someone can tell me how long you have to wait before you can drink a citrus/acidic juice after taking a dose of creatine?

People, have a bit of a read through this forum as most of these questions are answered many times before.
Take your creatine every day. If you miss a day, don't sweat it...
Take a carbohydrate or citrus drink with it..

You're right, a high GI carbohydrate drink is the best choice. I normally mix it with a 50 grams of dextrose and a very small amount of fruit juice for flavour..
It's not going to kill you though if you wash it down with some fruit juice once in a while :)

So it only matters what you originally mix it with then? Its ok to drink citrus juice a few minutes later then? Because the citric acid is supposed to destroy the creatine somehow i heard, and thats why you can't mix it wwhen you are taking it

Mikey, you positive about that? Body does a full creatine shutdown? I feel like that's something I'd want to know far more about, because it differs from testosterone in that a large part, if not a majority, of the creatine found in a 'normal' person's muscles is from their diet and not endogeneously produced.

I have read numorus articals that suggest creatine, that is endogeneously produced, shuts down as supplmeneted levels rise. This makes sense to me. You see such reactions with testosterone after supplmentation of synthetic test.
If production is slowed or stopped it is only about 1g per day, and every artical i have read says creatine production starts up again after supplementation ends.
Passwater: Does taking creatine supplements shut down endogenous creatine biosynthesis?
Greenhaff: Yes, in the amounts used for increased performance it does. So does, I imagine, eating large amounts of meat which, of course, contains creatine. It's a natural feedback mechanism. But what people should be clear is that once creatine supplementation is stopped and the muscle levels then begin to decline, then endogenous synthesis starts again. You have to remember that we are talking about people ingesting possible 20 grams a day at least initially and dropping to a lower maintenance doses of two grams per day. With normal diets, endogenous synthesis probably contributes one-to-two grams per day. So when you consume more than you normally would have to make, there is no need for the body to synthesize creatine.

side effect that I have read happened but I am unable to quantify is the fact that your body's production of creatine shuts down. However, after cessation of use, according to all of the literature your body's production kicks in again. No adverse effects have been documented due to the creatine shutdown created by the body. http://bodybuilding.about.com/od/supplementationbasics/a/creatine_2.htm

so i take it you dont believe creatine production is slowed or stoped when supplementation begins?

Wasn't so much directed at you. but, ok.
So what if it is slowed or stopped?
Better not eat any food with Creatine in it either, then if you don't want the negative feedback loop interrupted.
The idea is to have more than normal in your system for performance enhancement through supplementation. ...which is why I laugh at people demonizing Anabolics that supplement with everything else under the sun.

well, if it's a short acting chemical then I wouldn't want it to be stopped/slowed up and down, I'd aim to be far more uniform in my usage.
For instance, after stopping a cycle, your body takes a while to kick back to normal. Over long periods of creatine use then, how long before endogeneous kicks back to full? Perhaps tapering is in order
:zipit: sorry the intricacies of such a small, low-effect product being so elaborately discussed is just comical :zipit:

I know right?
I remember reading,There have been medical studies done that show suppression is suppression, whether it be from a month or a year regardning AAS usage... I know nothing about Creatine synthesis suppression but I can't imagine it'd be a lot different.

phase 1: Create online hysteria as to the dangers of creatine suppression after creatine cycles, spread tons and tons of information on the matter
phase 2: Create a product for creatine PCT
phase 3: Profit!
Usually phase 2 is missing, but it seems we have all the necessary elements here!!! The underpants gnomes would be in awe!!!

you should think about puting an extra 30 grams of dex.(total of 80g) in your shake

and swap the bcaa's for some fruit-flavored whey powder so you can get more calories, more aminos, still hit the same bcaa content you're aiming at, and save a ****-ton of cash.
