Hello,

These are my first videos. Can I please have some form feedback? Please excuse the grunting, I know it is annoying as hell, but I can't help that much.

Thanks,
bjohnso

Good stuff dude, form looks awesome! How come you keep lookin over to our left? Haha.

Thanks Bako! I don't know why I do that, I've been doing that ever since I started deadlifting. It's a compulsion, and it's probably not very good for my neck/traps.

Form looks solid to me, and awesome grunting by the way. The videos made me chuckle.

Thanks guys! I swear I felt my back rounding out the last 2 reps, but the video says no.

Here is a 425 attempt. It should have been easy, but I was sick and on top of that I'm kind of a pussy.

Form is 10x better than mine...good job man, hold that air in though, stop grunting. BTW I don't believe you can pull 405 6 times and not get 425 once.

Thanks, man. I've pulled 465 before, but I wore myself out going so close to failure on this one set, and I have a pretty bad cold. Why should I hold the air in though? I'm afraid I'm going to give myself a heart attack if I don't let it out.

holding your breath keeps your core tight, giving you more stability. It takes a little getting used to.

I'm willing to try it on singles, but it'll take more convincing to get me to do it for reppege. I'm not joking when I say I'm provoking the heart-attack god.

Looks great, good work. I hate when I come too close to failure on a previous set of anything, totally screws the rest of my workout up.

I'll give it a shot on box squats on Friday, hopefully I'll remember my camera.

Thanks to everyone for the positive feedback!

Those look really good bro. Plus you're lucky in that you're just a goatee away from being a clone of me.
Truthfully, if you can rock 405 for 6 while sick, I'd bet you're probably good for at least 5pps.

Haha, thanks man! No way I'm good for 5pps. I think I'll take a couple weeks off from the deadlift, continue with the 5-6 rep scheme for a few more weeks after that, and then switch over to singles. I'll set 475 for a short-term goal.

North - thanks man, I appreciate it.

Fantastic form buddy. But stop looking to the left for the love of God!

And you're looking good, solid, beefy... I'd hit it. ;-P

Great lifting there. Strong grip power, too. Were you using chalk at all?

Hell no, man. No chalk, no straps, no eco ball. No towel, no nothing. I've rack pulled 530 before, so 405 is easy to hold on to.

Thats sweet that your grip as stayed with your lifts, I am hoping mine will do the same.

Also I'm sure you have seen me around the Rec although I wasn't there at all this past quarter because of injuries. Next time I see you I'll be sure to say hi!

I haven't been there at all this past quarter, I've been at another gym. I look forward to meeting you in person.

Edit: I'm sure I've seen you before, because I make note of the people who deadlift - all 3 of them.

Heh, I'm from the Cleveland area originally. Maybe we should have like a WBB meet for this area.

I've got some more videos. I was hoping for 7*405, but only got 6. It felt like my back was rounding, but you guys tell me what you think. I didn't lose any strength after a 5 week layoff from deads and 3 weeks of cutting, so I guess I can't complain too much.

Those look great dude. Even that sixth rep was smooth as hell. I'm seriously totally envious. You need to slap 500 on there and pull that **** up, because you've got it for sure.

LOL! Did you watch the 425? I don't know why the hell that was so difficult, that should have flew up.

Thanks for the kind words. I'd be happy to pull 455.

Yeah dude it was a little slow, but it was still really smooth. I think 455 would be a joke for you.

Here's 315*6 Sumo. The angle probably could have been better.

It's hard to tell from here but it looks like your sumo stance is pretty narrow. I'd widen it up considerably and point your toes out.

Nice work on the 405lbs x 6!

Thanks dude. I've always had a pretty strong grip, but there was a time when it failed me. I worked on it directly, and now I never have a problem with deads. 495 was kind of difficult to hold onto the other day (rack pulls).

Thanks. It is fairly narrow.

Man, you tricked me in the 6x405 video. First 2 reps you really didn't look to your left... but then you started :D Also oddly you don't do that with your sumo's. The reps all looked great to me. I to am envious of your grip.

Speaking of sumo's I need to give that a whirl sometime.

Also what did you do for your grip? Just tack in some farmer's etc on leg days?

I think I do it because it's tough to clear the knees - with sumo it's easy.

I used to do hanging static holds on the smith machine (the bar is fat and slippery) and barbell static holds. You could just do a static hold at the top of a rack pull or something. I've deadlifted 415 before with a double overhand grip, no way I could do that now. I'd like to get back up there.
