Im thinking about trying this for my senior year in high school.

What muscles does this involve mostly?

Thanks

I threw javelin for 3 years in grade 9, 10, and 11. I won every meet that I entered with school but ended up getting kicked off the team because I missed too many practices.

Javelin involves your entire body. Having a strong core will be a big help.

I trained Javelin w/ the track team for awhile though never making the team.
I was told I needed to strengthen my core/rotating muscle to get better depth to my throw.Either way I tried, but guess I never improved enough b/c I never made the team.
I was doing ax chops w/a cable machine, but other than that no one ever gave me a bette ridea as to what to work.

In terms of weight room I see the throwers at my college doing a lot of cleans, hang cleans, front squats and shoulder presses/bench presses.

Most of their workout time is spent at the track though.

Agreed. I've seen 5'9'', 145lbs throw pretty close to what the 200lber guys are throwing. It has alot to do with technique.
