What's up people? I have been lurking around the forum for a while now and figure I would join. First a little backround, I started Aug. 1 2007, at a sloppy 338 lbs. I am 6'2'', 36 years old and haven't been under 250 lbs since I graduated high school. This is the longest committment I have had to the gym since that time. I was a classic 5 month member, lost weight, got to where I felt "comfortable" then spent a year packing it back on. Repeat scene for 10 years or so until I gave up altogether over the last 3 years and blew up. ANYWAY, I went from the before mentioned Nate Newton like 338 lbs. to a 279 lbs. mark this morning. Just about 60 lbs. Hurray for me, Not really. I feel I could have did more but I am where I am and more motivated than ever. I started last night the 5x5 Stronglifts program as seen on stronglifts.com. First, I train alone. So this isn't easy to get the five reps but it is what it is.
Tuesday Night
15 minute cardio warm up- 1 mile on treadmill
Squats (smith machine, please save your comments, we don't have a rack)
185x5
225x5
270x5
320x5
360x5
My legs are big and strong always been. So squating 3 x a week isn't a chore for me
Flat Bench Press ( First time back literally since 1991)
135x5
155x5
185x5
195x5
205x5
Barely squeeked the 5th rep off my chest. Kinda embarassing actually. I used to do 325 lbs easy.
Barbell Row (Never really ran this style but i am giving it a try)
65x5 (a bad case of bitchfoot)
95x5
115x5
135x5
145x4
Got dizzy at the end. Unorthodox position.
Finished with 10 negative Dips then anouther 15 minute mile.
Just some light cardio tonight.
HAS ANYONE TRIED THIS PROGRAM????
