View Full Version : how many resting days prior to meet?

my bench meet is on feb.16 which leaves this saturday my last bench training day. ill work up to my opener and do accessory work.
would it be safe to run the treadmill, swim, and do abdominal work prior to the meet? im talking the following monday/tuesday/wednesday and completely do nothing after.

swimming is awesome, i'm like a 320 lb fish. very low impact.

This Saturday (9th) you should hit your opener and then do light triceps just like you said bro! I cut a lot of weight for bench meet normaly over 10lbs, I hit the treadmill Hard starting 24hrs out (I only walk at 3mph), and feel fine on bench day, I just make sure I have 24hr Weigh-Ins! But if you don't need to cut weight, I would skip the cardio, you should get as much rest to build up your type 2b muscle fibers for your Meet on Saturday! Good Luck at your Meet Bro!

im at 205 and like to get down 198. im eating fewer carbs and calories to help the weight loss. and thanks!

Make sure you cut back on salt 48hrs before weigh-ins! That will help drop a lil water weight! Keep us Posted Bro!

Like Osgood said, cut salt 48hours before weigh ins and then 34-36hours, start cutting water toa minimum. For really only 6-7lbs, you can lose that without having to do anything drastic.

Also, eat bananas for the last 48 hours leading up. The potassium pulls water out.

Sicne this is a bench only meet, you should be fine doing cardio the week before up to a couple days out. I wouldn't do upper body intensive stuff, though (no swimming or rowing) but running, stairs, bike and that kind of stuff is fine.
