If you have bumper plates on a bar, and you're using it for the olympic lifts, is it okay to have regular iron weights too, as long as they are a smaller diameter, or is there something wrong with that?

I would only use plates smaller than the bumpers (35's, 25's, 10's...etc)

you should be fine, i do it all the time. 45 bumper and 45 irons

The only thing I've ever heard is that by adding iron plates after bumper plates is that there is less shock absorption and the bar can take a bigger hit. I'm sure that as long as some of it is absorbed, it's better than nothing but if I could, I'd use all bumper plates but if that's not possible, I think it will still work but you might the bar might not last as long.
