So chuffed... finally got 308 on the deadlift tonight, well pleased, its taken me a while!

Managed 286 x5 (also a PR), then spend ages wondering if I should max out, finally gave it a go and made 308 x 1

really glad I did it as the gym was packed tonight, would have been an embarrassing fail otherwise! I think thats a pretty useful incentive though, pushes you harder sometimes, any one else find that?

Anyway, had to tell someone, my house is empty!

Nice work. Adding another plate is always a great milestone. How old are you and how long have you been lifting?

Nice job. I just hit 305 x 5 2 days ago. 3 plates for me is 315, maybe you are in Kgs or something and converting to lbs. But, I can't wait to put that 3rd plate on each side next deadlift day.

Cheers! I'm 25, and for a few years I've been lifting for 3 months, then giving up for about 8 months, then trying again etc.... making no progress!

I finally started again properly in November 07, so Ive had a proper 4 months at this now. I'm doing the Rippetoe routine, but on deadlift day I often ditch the squats as Im really trying to focus on deads at the mo, and squats beforehand ruin my performance on deads.

Yea Im in the UK, so todays PR was 140kg, I converted it to lbs for the benefit of you guys, as I know this is primarily a US board. My plates are 20kg each, so 44, not 45lbs each.

The US system sucks. Why can't we just go metric damnit!!!??? It's so much easier.

The U.S. system is ballin... for us atleast.

It really pisses me off that you have to have two sets of tools for metric and standard.

1 ft = 12 inches
1 yard = 3 feet
1 mile = 5280 feet

1 lb = 16 oz

etc....

Who the hell thinks of this s***?

1 kilometer = 1000 meters
1 meter = 1000 milimeters
1 Kg = 1000 grams

everything's a multiple of 10, Sooooooo much easier

Here's another idea. The program in the back of SS is NOT the same program Mark teaches in his gym. Here's the "gym" program:

Monday
Squat
Bench/Military
Pull Ups/Pendlay Rows

Wednesday
Squat
Bench/Military Press
Dead Lift

Friday
Squat
Bench/Military
Pull Up/Pendlay Row

The workouts are NOT alternated A/B. They are done on the days shown. The bench/military are alternated each workout. One week you do bench twice, the next week you do military twice. Mark teaches the pull up to everyone. Pendlay rows can be substituted as you advance (which you've already done). You can do either pull ups or Pendlays or you can alternate them.

The point I'm trying to make is that deads are only done once per week. If you always do them on Wednesdays, you can back squat heavy on Mondays and Fridays and do light squats or front squats every Wednesday.

The light squatting day on Wednesdays should help you with both your squats and DLs. It works as a recovery day for squats and helps you be fresher for the DLs.

i've seen this done, but im partial to powercleans(they are so damn crazy and fun.) so i stuck with that layout.

Cheers for the rippetoe 'gym' program, it looks decent. I may switch to that actually, really like the look of that.
