Not a whole lot a spotter can do if you do fall deadlifting actually if the weight is heavy enough. The best they can do is catch you if you faint after the lift.

I hope you're getting enough rest Chinaz.

My best female friend is 4'11 ( she also the reason I am up right now since she texts me at all hours of the night ) and she is really strong for her size too, not as strong as you, but she is stronger than girls I know that are my size ( 5'9 ) kinda crazy.

Congrats on the DL PR. Nice work. Keep with it and you'll be kicking ass for many many years.

BTW, I agree with having a back spotter on the DL. Have seen people fall back and have also seen someone faint afterward (1 time) and luckily there was a back spotter to catch her.

a lifter falling back on the deadlift tells me there "trainers" or "coaches" do not know how to prepare a lifter for a meet. you have much much more great potential with a legit PL trainer than a high school all sports coach.

you were only 90lb away from a 18 y/o lifter..thats really good in my book. 15 is a very young age to start PLing and 18 is where the beast comes out of you. I am willing to bet you will total 700lb before graduating high school. 750-800 with the right training.

man you are a shorty in those pics (no offense)
lol at the underarmor shirt, say no to UA

and if you took it serious, rested and had real powerlifting coaches you could hit a 1000lb total in gear or 800 raw by your senior year no problem at your same weight or close to it.
but you arnt resting your muscles enough, you arn't training for your meets, your just lifting every week (or day?), at least you are young and your body can recover faster then us old fogies.

Haha let's not get out of hand here bro. She's strong no doubt, but a 1000lbs total at ~100lbs is a 10 x BW total. That's not accomplished very much at all, and even less so in highschool.

Congratulations on the DL PR and also your placing in the comp. I agree with many other peoples sentiments that your training/competing scheme is really out of whack, however I doubt you feel you're in a position to change it right now.

One thing you can change however...

Get out of the running shoes and into lifting shoes / chucks =\.

with her height and the fact that see has just begin to train and doing well with a poor plan i think it could be possible in 3 years with tight gear.
id could believe she could it a 400lb squat, 380lb deadlift, 220lb bench at around 110-120lb weight

chinaz
03-02-2008, 01:17 PM
Well coach had us do this half squat thingy, with 310lbs, it was crazy heavy.
i cant feel my shoulders!! He did this so when we get ready to lift at state, it wont feel like a whole lot on us.
Did 310 half squat
200 half bench ( go down slow, then coach gets it back up)
and idk what i did on dead lift!
it was kinda fun tho : )

well, im in 2nd for state right now.

how can i make it to nationals?

btw, thanks eveyone!!
and yea, im (going) to hit total 700 + next year. FORSURE. : )

i really really really want to hit a 200 bench by my snr year.
at least 350-400 squat
and same for dead lift.

Someone fell at the deadlift competition on Saturday at the Arnold. Looked pretty nasty, but she got up fine.

Chinaz, you are one strong little girl. You should have 700 easy in a couple years.

I think I might be going to the women's state meet so you better put on a good show.

you need to check out this girl from georgetown named marci, shes in the 190's I think and probably is the strongest girl i've ever met and will most likely slaughter state competition

X2

Seriously... training every day and then competing... what? 4 times in 2.5 months? Ive competed half of that and my CNS is fried. Plus maxing out immediately after a comp!! Thats insane! I dont even hardly lift at all the week after one of mine. Thats not 'intense' as some people might think, its just stupidity. GEt out of that powerlifting group and find yourself someone else to lift with, your going to end up hurt with a fried CNS. Take this week off and DEFINATELY dont max out, your body requires time to heal.... I dont know how your coach doesnt know that.

God, sometimes I just want to smack people!

Oh, and on the whole deadlift thing, if you ever feel like your losing your balance THAT bad just let go! I havnt seen anyone fall over, usually people step back. They lose the lift, but they dont get a concussion. And having a spotter there is kinda dumb, they seriously would be more of a hindrance than a help. Im getting the feeling that your competitions arent allied with a federation, I dont know of any that have spotters in deadlifts.

People must be using 50% of their maxes at these competitions to be pulling it with so much momentum to fall backwards........

lol.

i guess!

one thing i dont understand is how the heck some people walk up to lift jumping around like they just won a kabillion dollars.
then they lift.

when i go up to lift, i have to spend 5min calming myself down so i dont get to excited and screw myself over on the lift.

I have never heard of someone falling over, but every once in a long time I pull too fast and take a step back. But, even that is rare.

Amazing lifts and congratulations!
