View Full Version : Am I eating enough?

Hi I've been training since the end of September last year and I haven't really gained any weight, I'm about 5ft8 and weigh just over 60kg. My current diet is:

8:00am 3 Shredded Wheat and milk
8:30am Banana
!0:15am 2 Hot Cross Buns
!2:15am 2 Ham and cheese rolls or scrambled egg, toast and bacon (wed and sat)
2:15pm Whey with 1 pint of milk (52g Mass Gainer Whey Protein)
4:15pm Apple
8:00pm Dinner: 4 Pieces of chicken thigh/drumstick and mash potato or 2 lamb steaks and chilli potatoes and peas or pasta or chicken and rice generally
11:00pm 3 Shredded Wheat and milk

I'm a student so can't really afford lots of food or expensive food but any suggestions of high protein foods would be welcome.

I know this is gunna sound stupid and i'm no expert so can't really help you fix anything though i'm sure someone can. However if your not gaining weight than you need to eat more. As for what I can't recommend but definitely need more if in 1 year no gains.

You answered your own question.

However many calories you are currently eating per day, add 250-500 to that number and start eating this many calories per day. If after a week or two you still aren't gaining weight, repeat this process over again. Keep repeating it until you end up gaining about 1lb per week (any more and you're most likely gaining too much fat). If you do start gaining weight too quickly, drop your calorie intake by about 250 until you reach the 1lb per week range (0.75lb per week is fine too).

When you reach that point, keep eating that many calories until you no longer want to gain weight. If at some point weight gain stops when you want it to keep going, add another 250-500 calories.

Oh, and train your ****ing ass off.

It depends on what your goals are. Since you weigh ~135 pounds I'm going to guess you want to gain weight. You should eat more food then.

I've only started eating like this for the past week and weighed my self today and found out I've gained 5kg in 3 weeks. Thanks for the help.

I've restructured my diet after some advice, what do you think:

8:00am banana, whey and milk shake
8:10am 3 shredded wheat, half a cup of oats, semi skimmed milk
10:05am tuna, sweetcorn and cheese roll, apple, boiled egg
12:05pm 4 crab sticks, tuna, sweetcorn and cheese roll
2:05pm Whey, oats and milk shake
6:00pm 2 boiled eggs
7:00pm dinner: pasta/chicken/meat/potatoes/veg
9:00pm tin of mackeral in tomato sauce
11:00pm pint of milk before bed

Any better?
