What exactly is the difference between yoyo dieting and cut/bulk cycles?

yo-yo diet - Fat bitch starving herself to try to look good for a cruise and then pwns the buffet and gains it back.

Cut/Bulk - Eating an excess in calories to optimize the bodies ability to add lean body mass, then eating a deficit in calories to shed any fat gained from the bulk.

I'd have to say the difference is:

1) caloric cut range - a dedicated yo-yo dieter like my mother will eat 500 calories a day for a few weeks, killing her metabolism, fall off the wagon and pound back 2000 calories of potato chips a night for a week or two, tear up over how the weight didn't stay off and do it all over again.

2) quality exercise - a yo yo dieter doesn't know, or care to know, anything about retaining muscle by limiting catabolic activities while on a diet. They just bike away while reading a magazine for an hour, and lament that while they're losing inches on their arms and thighs their waistline is still the same.
