How many of you do this? i usualy use 6oz of milk and a scoop and a half of my vannilla cinnomen protien but i just looked in the fridge and were all out of milk. im really picky about taste and have never mixed protein with water so i was curious to see if any of you have and what you thought about it.

Can't cite any sources here, but I personally mix my peri-workout shakes with water, since they're mainly a blend of sugar and whey. I want this shake to be absorbed as quickly as possible. With milk, there's all the extra carbs and casein in the way.

As for meal-replacement shakes, I think you can go either way. Definitely milk if you're in need of calories, though I know a lot of containers specifically say "mix with water" on the labels.

I've done it as a last resort. It makes it taste like crap, but if you chug it, you can get it down. It also cuts the calories buy, like, 100.

Depends on the brand. Nitrean taste great in just water IMO. Breakfast for me is 2 scoops mixed with water and 5 fish oil caps. Good stuff.

It's fine. Not the best, but it'll do.

I never use milk. I tried it back when I first started using protein powder to see what the difference was. It tastes fine with water though and it's more convenient.

I have issues with milk. I used to use soymilk but now I just say screw it and use plain old water. Works fine with most flavors I've tried of ON Whey (not vanilla or cookies and cream!).

I've recently switched to plain old water since I'm trying to cut out dairy. I find it's not too bad as long as you make sure not to water it down too much and drink it really quickly.

Its disgusting. The only powders that taste ok in water are the lemonades and fruit punch at GNC, but those are overpriced.

With all of the protein I'm taking in I care about my cholesterol levels so I use soy milk instead of milk. Water works too

At some point you gotta learn to ignore taste either way. Have you ever had creatine ethylester (sp?). That stuff tastes like the ass of a dead skunk (...yep, I know how that tastes! j/k)

I drink choclate whey in water and it tastes sorta like a thin choclate milkshake... very good considering the calories I saved.

i don't mind milk but water is cheaper. I tried maximus in soymilk once. Dunno what it is but it thickens up right away and I had to eat it with a spoon. So water it is fo rme.

I'd like to retract my previous statement. I tried vanilla whey with a packet of that Crystal Lite To Go stuff (0 cals) and water. it was really good.

Your defeating the whole purpose of whey protein when you mix it with milk. The whole point is to get the protein to your muscles FAST, which is what whey is, a fas digesting protein. When you mix it with milk it slows it down rapidly, the only time you should take it with milk is before bed.

Never tried water, I always use milk and I blend in pineapples, peaches, blueberries or other fruit to make it more nutritious and more tasty!!
