Hey guys,

Ive been working out for some time now and been doing a lot of running and eating healthy. I've recently lost about 30 pounds from 180 to 150 within a 6 month period. I feel great, I am pretty short around 5"7 so I feel a lot better at this weight. Before, I felt very heavy for my height. Although I've lost a lot of fat, I feel that I have lost a lot of my muscle mass as well.

So, I am thinking about buying some whey protein. I am new to the whole supplements thing and would like your advice on choosing a particular product. My friends have told me to stay away from creatine for reasons I dont know, but it seems that whey protein is a nice safe bet. Im not really sure whats good to look for when purchasing whey protein but I went to the gnc website and found two products in particular that look good. I am interested in maybe gaining about 5-8 pounds of muscle, or more. Here they are:

or

Nitrean 2.2 lbs from atLargeNutrition

Let me know what you guys think. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

Nitrean is going to be better bang for your buck as far as quality and taste goes

Nitrean isn't a whey protein. It is a blend of egg, casein, whey. It is a far superior product for performance, taste, and mixablility.

I agree i'm jumping onto the protein mix (as opposed to only whey) bandwagon too. Of course, not to flame at large, there are alternatives to nitrean with similar compositions. For the most part I would avoid weight gainers because the quality of the carbs/protein/fats they use is not great from what i hear.

awesome guys, thanks... hmm this is interesting a mix of whey + casein. I will give this Nitrean a shot! ill probably buy the 2.2 lbs first just to see if i like it or not. When do you guys recommend taking this? right after the workout? or immediately before the workout? Thanks guys! i hope shipping isnt too expensive.

I'd do one post workout and one before bed.

It should be noted that if you mix your protein with milk there's really no point in spending the extra money on a blend. If you prefer to use water, a blend makes more sense.

What did your friends say was wrong with creatine?

Nitrean is the best tasting you'll find.

Am I going to gain weight by adding protein supplements to my diet?
