I have seen some stuff on the web that states caffeine negates the efficacy of creatine. Here's one:
http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=3033957
Here's a follow-up saying it's not so-so bad:
http://www.creatinemonohydrate.net/creatine_newsletter_19.html
Another:
http://www.pponline.co.uk/encyc/0109.htm
There were a few others, but my firewall is preventing me from getting to them. I searched "creatine caffeine" on google.
Any thoughts?
Since caffeine is a diuretic and creatine requires increased water consumption for full effectiveness, I wonder if water consumption has any effect on the effectiveness of using creatine and caffeine together. If so, then I wonder how the research you found dealt with water consumption....

Hearing this back in high school s what caused me to give up regular sugar-loaded pop (or soda, for you other folks)

I'm only aware of one study that states caffeine diminishes the effect of supplemented creatine.
Only one study... I have never found another on the subject so I don't place much stock in it.
Any way, I'm not going to give up my green tea for creatine even if the caffeine does diminish the usually very small and narrow real world benefit from creatine supplementation.

Empirically, it's fine.
