View Full Version : 2 days out.. carb depleted / holding water...posing video

So here I am approaching the end of my 12-week cut. I'm two days out and I haven't cut water or carbed up yet. Just wanted to post this in case the carb-up goes bad and I look like **** afterward. I suspect I'm sitting around 10-12% bodyfat (I'm getting DEXA'd next week, calipers are reading 9.8-10.5%). My bodyweight is 208. I started my diet at over 240 pounds and 20%+ bodyfat (read, big ass hairy beer gut). You can see my transformation pics in an earlier post.

I have no idea how to do the back poses, which is why they suck. Also my bitch as 16.5" arms suck too. Everything else looks good though I think.

Lastly, I was cold and carb depleted, hence the zero vascularity. I normally get some solid vascularity in my arms and none of it was showing. Hopefully Friday I will post a better video with a darker tan, none of that damn smoothness from the water and some vascularity.

EDIT: Forget about this YouTube nonsense. I made a quick webpage with the video embedded. Way easier to watch.

I'd guess closer to 13-15%

Even with the abs showing (considering I'm holding water too)? That's a little disheartening. I suppose the DEXA will tell me what's up. If I'm actually that fat, I'm gonna cancel my upcoming bulk plans and run another 10 week cut. God, now I feel disgustingly fat...

Did you do this on a Mac?
I think this is an improvement on your pictures from your earlier post

Haha no, I actually did it by downloading the video from my camera into Windows Movie Maker and cutting out the beginning and end where I just talk about random nonsense... Also added the corny music =D

Take my response with a grain of salt - I'm just a fat guy, LOL...

I'd actually go ahead and bulk again. Bulk for 6-8 weeks then cut again. You'll lose too much muscle if you keep cutting.

why are you cutting out water if you're not doing a show?

The sepia type tone was a good move if you are concerned with the tan. The corny music made it comic. All together it was a good mix

As silly as it sounds, I am going on a spring break cruise in the caribbean and I want to look as lean and vascular as possible for it. Also, in my mind it's easier for me to work towards a goal if I have a specific "show date". I like to treat my cut as if I am preparing for a show, that way everytime I am tempted to cheat or do anything silly I can say no I have to look good for my "show". Lastly, I want to "peak" so that I can have a set of pictures as a reference point in the future to be like "this is the final result of my cut".

As far as bulking is concerned, I'm debating between a UD2.0 style bulk or DC training with moderate cardio (or as needed to keep fat off) and high calories. I would prefer the DC approach only because the cardio for me is not really for fat loss as much as it is getting in cardiovascular shape. I really want to break the 6:00 mile sometime this year.

UPDATE: Video is now working. For some reason, YouTube is sucking today. I uploaded it to my server..

To be honest I thought this whole time you've been preparing for an actual show. When you say stuff like "I'm two days out and I haven't cut water or carbed up yet." I guess you can see how people wuold get confused.

Either way you definitely look good compared to where you started. Have you noticed much strength loss at all? Personally I would cut a little longer if you really want to look as good as possible for the cruise.

(Do you go to MIT? I'm jealous.)

Yea, I'm a senior at MIT, actually finishing my second degree (I graduated in Finance last year) in computer science/electrical engineering. The cruise starts on Saturday.

My strength has actually increased drastically. Don't ask me how/why haha. I increased my bench from 275 to 365 shirted, and from 250 to 315 raw. I've just put in a lot of hard work and counted every damn calorie, rep, etc.

Nice job man. Great progress from your beginning pictures that I saw.

You are looking good, but I will also agree that you look between 12-15%. Regardless you are very symmetrical. I say keep cutting until you get really lean and go from there. You are almost there anyways, so you might as well keep going. By the way you have made great progress

I've read that calipers can read 2-3% lower than actual. The DEXA will give me a true number that I can then use against the calipers. If the DEXA says 13%, then I know my calipers are 3% low, which means I need to diet until they read 5% (so I'm in reality 8%).

I'm going to switch up my training style to DC style training (higher reps than westside = easier on joints, etc) and increase the cals a bit and go to a more balanced diet (I need to start eating real food instead of NItrean 6 times a day), and just increase cardio (I also need to get in better sprinting shape). I will try to report back at 6-8% in another 6-8 weeks...

you're looking pretty good dude, but take yourself a little less seriously. It's just a cruise, and you have a great body as is; no need to go overboard with cutting water and all that.

posing routine was awful, as you know, but I wouldn't worry about it unless you're trying to do a contest soon or something.

I have to take thing seriously to be good at them. I've put in 100% into this diet / routine which is why I've gotten the results I have. I don't think there is anything wrong with being uber-motivated. Hopefully in a few years my current motivation will take me to pro BB levels.

Also, where can I learn to pose? Should I just practice out the ARnold Book.. I do someday want to be a pro natural bodybuilder..

Also, I'm cutting water just because I want to see how "dry" I can get for myself. I love being able to see my abs better and getting the veins out.

I'm not saying that you should take your training any less seriously, just take yourself a little less seriously. If you're on a cruise, relax, have fun, have a couple of drinks. No one cares if you're slightly more or less lean than you are now.

Save cutting water until you're really into the single digit bf percentages and have some fun!

Makes sense, I was just curious.

I would seriously go ahead and bulk though. You've done a good cut, now you need to put some mass on. Don't be afraid of a little pudge, you now know how to get it off but the extra weight will allow your muscles to constantly have plenty of nutrients to draw from building mass.

I'm under the assumption that you want to get bigger though. If you like the size you are then don't change a thing. Nice work

Based on others on this site with similar bodies I would hazard a guess of 12-13%. You look good, man. If I were going on a cruise I wouldn't mind looking like that at all.

I would normally bulk, but I want to be ripped for the summer. I don't see enough time to be cut for the beach if I started a bulk now. I think I will take a few weeks off, and then start pre-contest style cutting to single digit BF into the summer. Then July/August ish I can start bulking cleanly all the way into December/January

Your looking fairly lean, just looks like the little midsection fat you have left is going to be a pain in the ass. Dropping another 3-4% should get rid of that.

Keep all this hard work in mind when you bulk, on top of the fact that un assisted lifters can really only expect to gain about half a pound of muscle per week. People might disagree with me, but they also probably have a poor idea of just how much difference 10 pounds of solid muscle can make.

12-14%. Last bit of fat is in the midsection under the belly button, also back will lean out when you get single digit. Side chest looks great. Learn to lat spread and back double bi, do yourself some justice. Nice work bro, great xformation so far.

This video makes me :(. You guys need to realize Dxiw is a man with a 405+ bench and 500+ deadlift JUST waiting to be unleashed onto the world. Instead he is here getting body waxes and making softcore porn while YOU guys encourage him on.

Of all people, I am shocked at you Ben Moore for encouraging this. Join me in the fight to save Dave from the dangerous, yet enticing, world of body waxes and fake tans.

Haha, Im just kidding, Dave. Have fun on your cruise you big sexy man.
