Starting in the fall I will be attending University of New Haven to get my Master's in Forensic Science. I'm pretty psyched.

I don't have to. I might though. We'll see where life takes me. My other consideration if I didn't get into here (my top choice) was a PhD in chemistry with emphasis on forensic science. But it's a lot of work.

This maybe a dumb question, but are there different disciplines in forensic science? Like murder scenes, fire scenes, car crashes, etc.etc. I think this would really be the coolest job in the world, I am always fascinated whenever I see anything on TV about it (granted I doubt its like how it is on TV).

I would think so. There is a big difference between investigating a fire (which involves incredible fire behaviour knowledge) and a murder scene (DNA and such). Im talking out of my ass, but am curious to know as well.

There are many different areas. My concentration will be in criminalistics, which is the 'lab portion', I guess you could say. They also have programs here for fire science and advanced investigation. In the actual field of criminalistics there are further distinctions (DNA, trace, ballistics/toolmarks, fingerprints, toxicology, etc). I'm looking to go into a job dealing with trace analysis or ballistics.

How will you choose where to get a job when you graduate? Miami, New York, Las Vegas? The choices are many.

I've been considering taking my Masters of Commerce, but man, more school!? I love learning but I cant wait to start working. I'd like to be running my business in my early 20's. Good for you for putting in the extra time and effort.

Well, first I have to figure out how I'm gonna pay for this master's degree, then I'll worry about getting paid once I get this.
