Im sure lots of you are aware of the 72oz steak challenge at that joint in Texas. I should be going there in the summer to give it a shot.

Interested to see if anyone has attempted/finished it before?

I recently bought 36oz of steak and fried it up to see if I could man it. I managed to eat about 33oz of it, leaving the fat as my mouth was so sore from all the chewing (i messed it up while cooking). I do think i could of eaten probably another 8 oz or so too, which still puts me a long way off the 72oz'er!

Whats the biggest steak you've attempted?

What is the point of eating 72oz of steak? I hope there's some sort of prize at the end like $500. A 12oz filet is probably the biggest steak I've had.

I can eat a ton of steak. Usually eat 1-2 12oz steaks when I have it though. Do you at least get the meal free if you finish the 72oz?

Reminds me of a Simpsons episode...Homer won because the other guy in the contest died mid-steak:eek:

Yeah if you eat it all within 1 hour you get the meal free, otherwise its $80!

What do you mean whats the point? Whats the point in wasps? They were put here on this planet to serve no purpose other then to annoy.

I've eaten 32's before, I can down 12 oz steaks and still be hungry.

I've grilled up to 3 pounds of delmonico cut steaks before and nearly finished them. The way I prepare them you just gorge yourself senseless.

$80 for a 72oz steak, I think it's safe to say you aren't getting the choice cuts:)

One year for my birthday, my mom got me a 2" thick sirloin. I think the total weight was 42oz. Christ, that thing was awesome.

just so you know you have to eat the fatm grissle and all. even the sides.

on a down note the steak is not the greatest.

on the upside their are steak groupies that will recognize you and offer sexual gratification when they see your picture on the wall.

I've never had anything bigger than a 16 oz, because, well I've never been to a restaurant with one bigger than that. I can eat a couple decent sized steaks grilled up at home, no clue what the actual weight is though.

72 is rediculous. Wonder what the nutrition breakdown of that bad boy is.

I packed away a 56 oz steak, along with the baked potato and basket of bread, and 6-7 beers. I had an abdominal hernia surgery 3 weeks later. go figure. ps it was the best steak I ever had. It was the size of the entire plate and 3 inches thick

Its 4.5 lbs of beef! I regurarly eat 2lbs meals, but i've never attempted something this big..

I'll just go for a three hour jog before, they'll never know!

Trick to eating a lot - is eat very fast lol. Did you know that it takes about 8 minutes for the brain to recieve a message from your stomach saying your FULL. This is why im always hungry after i finish smaller meals, but 10 minutes later im fine!

Im just gona scoff it as fast as possible.

There is a contest like that though at Shula's steakhouse locations. I think you get your name on a plaque or something

And I'm sure they're all about the same quality as the cheap steak you just finished. heh

Besides the delayed hernia, that story sounds delicious.

I've probably done somewhere around 30oz. Home cooked multiple steaks of course, never been anywhere with anything higher than 20oz.

dude, wouldnt eating that much actually be pretty dangerous? I mean, theres a point when the body just cant eat anymore and it gets really ugly beyond that.

But im not surprised its in texas, everything is bigger in texas. lol.

16oz rump and an 8oz sirloin in a restaurant (which all the trimmings and onion rings of course:D dont think my insides could take four lbs of steak in one sitting though. and i certainly wouldnt want to sit on the bog the next day.... or the one after that...
