I'm down to 1700 on my workout days, and 1500 on my off days, and it is already miserable. I think I only have about 6-7 lbs. to go to reach my goal. What is the lowest you've gone for any length of time on a cut?

When I dropped from 230 to 195 I was eating around 2200-2400 cals most days but maybe 1-2 days a week I'd have no appetite and eat ~1200 calories.

If you are miserable on your current total already, why not give UD 2.0 a shot? Your at a perfect place to start it, and if you feel crappy already, you might as well lose fat quicker and maintain all of your muscle while you're at it.

I've never really had a successful cut, but when I got injured and decided to cut the fat I was eating about 2400 cal a day and I was losing about 2lbs a week. This upcoming cut is going to suuuuuuck.

is it just me, or does 1700 seem rediculously low for someone who's 196lbs? Based on your lifts, I would imagine you've got a decent amount of lean mass on you. I hope you're not doing lots of cardio in conjuction with such a huge deficit!! Perhaps you might want to add a few more cals back in and add some extra cardio to make things more comforatable.

Right now, I'm cutting on about 2200-2400 a day (off days less) and I'm 180ish.

just a thought.

I did around 1250 on my first PSMF. 3 weeks of that with a refeed and a free meal per week. That was hardcore.

I was doing 1100 roughly on UD 2.0 when I did it a few months back...that coupled with depletion w/o's is horrible.

so a kid at 16 years old, 162lbs, 6'00'' ive read up that my maitainance is around 1850. so a reasonable cut for that would be like 1400 cal. a day? ~_^

erm, how much do you all take off from maitainance cal. on cuts?

I'm 17 and ~162 lbs and my maintenance is about 3000.

Cutting 500-1000 calories on a cut is usually recommended (closer to 500 is probably best).

For "ordinary" dieting - ie not something like PSMF - drop no more than 20% from maintenance. For Notorious above, 20% off 3000 means he'll go down 600 calories, which for him is fine.

For me, 20% off maintenance is 20% down from just over 2000 calories a day - so I'll drop 400 calories. Any more than this and it's going to be too extreme for me.

If you are 16 years old, 6' and 160 pounds you should be trying to put on weight.
