View Full Version : How would you rather be paid?

Would you rather be paid in one giant sum every year on Jan. 1st, or would you rather accrue a bi-monthly check? I prefer the latter - that way, it feels like I'm actually getting something every week for the time I put in. Interest on my earnings be damned! ;)

I've been paid every two weeks and every week. I like getting paid every week much, much more. Not only do I not feel like I'm running out of money, but I actually spend less as a result.

I thought about the first of the year thing last night then read this but I realized, the first year how would you get paid? I don't know how they would determine giving you all the money for the first year considering if you take days off or are sick or you get fired there out all of the money...

I'd prefer to be paid every week or every 2 weeks.

Would you rather get paid in cash on the spot or directly into your bank account? I'd prefer cash on the spot.

Ah, see I like the direct deposit... makes me not decide "Oh, I have $ in my pocket... I should go buy something!"

By hiding my money, I deprive my pleasure center in my brain of the opportunity to do something foolish, like splurge on something I don't know just because it's suddenly a possibility for me. Me - 1, human nature - 0

I would get paid a lump sum Jan 1. I have high confidence in myself to not splurge, and I would like to benefit from the interest.

Note: My confidence is completely undeserved and moronic.

It's just like vacation days. You gotta work for a year and be a year ahead. So, in essence, you're getting paid at the END of the year.

That's the thing, you'd in theory be going an entire year without money but still working the first year. You would die.

Out of your two choices, I would choose the bi-monthly check.

In general, I enjoy getting paid every week.

Most people are very, very poor at handling money. There are TONS of people out there who live paycheck to paycheck; if you give them all their money at once, they're going to start spending outside their means.

My guess is that most people would be broke by June 1st.

Personally, I would take the lump sum and invest it.

Your being a bit to generous my friend. June 1st. **** give a guy 40k in casha nd it'll be gone by April 1st.

I'd perfer bi-monthly or monthly I'd settle with.

Also direct depoist. I remember my buddy would always get his cash directly cashed. My god was that a mistake. Hand a 17 year old 250 bucks in cash and guess where its goes, NO WHERE! I get paid by direct depoist, and i'm able to save 20% typically of it.

I have direct deposit every week. It has the tax already taken out of it which saves the hassle of paying it myself.

If you get paid every year, then that's a year working with no money to live on, whilst your employer keeps the interest.

Bi-weekly is fine for me. I'd rather go shorter intervals than larger ones, if a change had to be made.

I used to get paid semi-monthly, on the 15th and 31st. Now I get paid every other week. At first it sucked, because I got paid a little bit less each time (26 pay periods a year rather than 24).

But you try to budget with the pay checks you get, so I budgeted my bi-weekly $x, and got used to living on that. But twice a year, there are three pay periods in a month! It's like getting a bonus check that month.

I've known people who got paid once a month and that royally sucked. Once a year is absurd.

:withstupi:

Every other week is best. Enough money that I can pay all my mortgage with one paycheck, and then there's that bonus paycheck twice a year. It's nice.
