Is heating or microwaving protein powder bad? Does this denaturing of the protein cause it to not be used by the body? What are the effects of heating the protein?
:micro:
I normally mix my whey with oatmeal and put it in the nuker.
Just lookin for some info. THanks

its ok just dont overcook it (ie turn it brown)

if we didn't denature protein how could we eat steak and eggs and chickens

the aminos haven't changed

so just heating the powder along with something else wouldnt affect it? Also, how would you know if you are overcooking the powder? I find it hard to imagine it turning brown while mixed with oatmeal and milk.

You basically have to burn (Blacken) to ruin proteins in meat. Thats why mad cow disease is a problem. You cannot cook it out of meat because it is a protein that causes mad cow disease. I am guessing that it would be the same with protein powders for the most part.

Im not talking about overcooking meat... im talking about nuking protein powder. Namely whey protein powder. I know its ok to cook meat, eggs, etc. But protein may be another matter entirely.
