I've never used any supplements before and currently I am trying to lose weight/body fat while also trying to get lean. I have searched throughout the internet for information about the PWO Nutrition and find that its the most important meal of all.
Generally, what do you take post-workout? I have heard from people that it's best to drink whey shake and others have said to combine whey, carbohydrate, and creatine into a shake.

I just eat a meal.

Really, if you have adequate pre-workout nutrition, just make sure you eat something afterwards.

I actually have a tub of Opticen that is solely for post workout.

I take my 80g of Waxy Maize with 5g of creatine, then 15min later do 2scoops of Opticen, 1hrs later a meal.

Its a pain in the butt with the complication but its very much worth it

The shakes can also be drank pre-workout with the same ingredient at the same quantity, correct?

I usually do either a 3:1 or a 2:1, carb to protein ratio

usually about 50-80g of carbs with 25-40g of protein

I would take Nitrean pre workout if you wanted only protein but highly recommend Results preworkout.

but that would be pre workout nutrition, not post workout nutrition haha

Absolutely spot on advice :withstupi:

To the OP, most of these fancy supps weren't around in the so called Golden Age of BB'ing, didn't seem to make any difference to them ;)

New question dealing with PWO nutrition. I lift weights in the morning and after I'm done I rest for a minute preparing for my cardio. Do I drink my shake after lifting or after cardio?

Don't stress too much about your post WO shake. Drink it after your cardio. You dont want to be chugging down a shake and feeling sick during your cardio.

Any kind of carb is fine. ANY KIND. It's best to get a 3:1 ration of Carbs to protein, but it really doesn't matter that much. It's most important to get some nutrients in your body. If you can stay away from fats, that'll help. Fat slows down digestion.

This is what I'm tryng:

Pre-Workout
-3g of Luecine

During Workout
-Gatorade with a scoop of Nectar

Post-Workout
-6g of Luecine
-100g of carbs

-25g of protein

(These 2 are a 4:1 Carb:Protein ratio)

5:1 Protein:Carbs
