WABDL Heart of America Bench Press and Deadlift Championships

Collinsville, Illinois, April 12th, 2008

Here is the quick and dirty on my meet results. I'll get vids up as soon as I can:

1st attempt: 402.2 easy
2nd attempt: 414.8 just a bit late on flaring out lats at sticking point and coiuld not lock it out
3rd attempt: 414.8 flew up! New Illinois State Record for 220 Class 1!
4th attempt: 429.7 good! Wanted to bump the record up higher. This was a nearly 15 lb all-time PR.

1st attempt: 507.7 good! Felt strong.
2nd attempt: 562.0 got it! Very very slow, painful lockout. This took everything out of me, but it was a 2 lb all-time PR.

Push/Pull Total:

991.7 (so close to 1,000!)

I passed on a 3rd attempt because I was just completely drained and thought I might have tweaked something on that 562 attempt (I didn't, thankfully). I had slept only 4 hours each of the previous 3 nights and weighed in at a very light (for me) 201.7 lbs. A very light 220 class lifter. Oh, and I essentially did the meet blind since I still had the lingering effects of the pinkeye and couldn't wear my contacts. Not bad considering. But I was basically running on adrenaline for the meet and I was TIRED when it was over. I slept most of the way home and went to bed almost immediately where I proceeded to sleep for 12 hours straight.

Definitely a good meet performance for me, especially on bench. As soon as I learn my Katana I expect to be hitting 475-500 on bench in short order. Hopefully my pull will closer to 585 by next meet. I may decide to do a full power meet next, in which case I'll be aiming for a 1,500-1,600 total.

Thanks for all the props, guys.

I am going to work on getting my raw bench back up the next month or two and then I'm going to jump in head first into learning the Katana. I should be good for right around 500 on bench when I figure it out.

Perhaps I'll be good for a 600 pull by then, too.

Nice work man! You've got a pretty damn big bench especially for being such a light 100kg ;)

Nice work man! You've got a pretty damn big bench especially for being such a light 100kg ;)Thanks. I've never really felt my bench to be my strong suit, especially since there are guys who can bench what I do shirted completely Raw. I hope to change that, though, soon enough.

Perhaps someday I'll even consider my bench to be a strength.:evillaugh:
