Well now that i made my triumphant return, I'll track my progress in a journal.

02/03/19

Well, it's Tuesday and it's springbreak... but wtf? It's snowing...

Today's workout was a piece. Back/Bi's. I was sick last week so it's been 2 weeks since i've deadlifted.

Sumo Deads: 315/3, 280/6
Weighted Pull Ups: 35/5, 35/4, 35/3
Seated Cable Rows: 130/7, 130/7
DB curls: 40/6, 40/4
Static Holds: 275 - 12 sec, 275 - 9 secs

That was probably one of the worst workouts I've had in a while. Dunno, maybe it was because of the week off that made my lifts really bad. I felt like I was going through the motions. Something has to be done about my grip strength. I need Straps for deads 'cause my grip stinks. Maki? help?

Well whatever, work tomorrow at 10 am. *sigh

Are the static holds for increasing grip strength?

No work out today. I did work though, and I just got back

Yates:

Fart: Yes, they are for grip strength. As you can see, i can't even hold the weight that i deadlift because my grip is so gay.

Ericg: Yes, yes, it does blow

Tryska: Thanks. Well I did a warm up with 305 for a single and i can get that up no problem but my grip slips. I'm not gonna make the rest of my body suffer so that my grip catches up. I'll have to rethink a strategy of how to get that damn grip going.

Jane: My goal is to be like Yates

Icer: I luv u

Anyways, i'll post my diet later if I have time. I asked to work at 8:00am tomorrow because I want to train later, and this girl gets back from her ski trip and I wanna ask her out. Rejection city here I come!

ElPietro

WTF it's spring break you punk as$ foo. WTF are you skipping training for? I don't care if you gay porn job takes a bit of your day away you should be training you skinny whore. You have the week off and if you can't pimp your highschool ho you might as well hit the iron.

Good lifts you lightweight :) ...try and work on the grip though...as long as you only use your straps when you absolutely can't keep your grip anymore. Don't use them as a crutch.

*gets jealous* No flirting with Icer, you're too young and softcore for her. tuttut ;)

Chris Rodgers

Stick with the static holds and your girly grip will improve.

ElPietro

Bleh, found out he hasn't even tried alternating grip yet. He'll realize the diff when he tries it now.

02/03/22

Well, I took yesterday off because I got up at 7:00 am to work at 8:00am. I hate work.

So here is my crappy workout today:

BB bench: 205/5, 175/6???? wtf
Dips: 60/5, 60/5, 60/5
Incline Flyes: 50's/8, 50's/6

Ok, I've been on this program for a little over a month and a half. It needs to change as I have decreased in weight for my poundages lifted. Perhaps I'll drop the weight and do higher reps. I dunno. I'll have a talk to Maki about it or something. I didn't have time to do shoulders or triceps as I had to work right after my workout.

Yesterday, I called that gal to ask her out to a movie. Much to my surprise, she said yes. Being as pessamistic as I am, I hope she doesn't cancel on me. 'Cause in my life, nothing ever stays up for a long time, and everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed for tomorrow. I can really see myself liking this girl a lot.

Ok, so the date blew and I realized that I'm condemned to live life solo forever... but however, I've channeled my desire for relationships to 3 things now:
1. Money
2. Power
3. Getting Big

Maki helped me tweet my old routine and I'll start it Tuesday as week begins with bench and I benched last Thursday. Here is the routine:

Monday:

Bench Press- warmup, 1x4, 2x3, 1x2
Flye- 3x6
Barbell Curl 3x6,8,12
Standing Shoulder Dumbbell Press 3x10

Everything is to failure exept for the bench press

Wednesday:

Deadlift- warmup, then 6x2
Pulldown 2x12
Row- 1x10
Standing Tricep Extension 3x12

Everything to failure exept for Deadlift

Friday:

Squat- warmup, 4x3
Leg curl- 3x8
Leg Press- 2x8
Some calf raises

Maki wanted me to rotate them every other week. I'm confused... Hopefully the guy will be a bit more specific.

Ok, today's workout was more or less a feel of what weights I should put on as my program has been redone:

Submaximal bench press: 175/4, 185/3, 185/2, 185/2
- I stopped way short of failure on each of the sets. Just wanted to get a feel as I'm not used to not training to failure.

Flat Bench Flies: 50's/7, 55's/7, 60's/7
BB curl: 70/6, 70/8, 60/9
- The first set I should have done 80 pounds but I didn't know. After a few heavy sets, my biceps seem to give out when I do a higher rep set at the end. The last set should have been up to 12 reps.

Standing DB shoulder Press: 45's/5, 30's/10, 35's/9
- ok, I thought i could do at least 10 with the 45's but I was wrong. It's a neuro thing right now and when my neuro system adapts, the weights will go up rapidly.

I've been really tired lately. A girl said I probably lacked iron. I guess so as I don't get enough green leafy veggies in my diet. I'll incorporate that into my diet I guess.

Been pretty pissed off lately, so my workouts should be pretty good. Today was overall ok as with a new program, I didn't expect too much with the weights pushed.

Manveet also wanted me to put in his journal for his workout yesterday:

Ez bar preacher curl: 15/5, 15/5, 15/5, 15/5, 15/5
Standing BB curl: 20/5, 20/5, 20/5, 20/5, 20/5
Incline DB curl: 7.5/5, 7.5/5, 7.5/5, 7.5/5, 7.5/5,
Alt DB curl: 7.5/5, 7.5/5, 7.5/5, 7.5/5, 7.5/5,
Incline DB press: 25's/5, 25's/5, 25's/5, 25's/5, 25's/5,
Flat DB press: 25's/5, 25's/5, 25's/5, 25's/5, 25's/5,
Decline Db press: 25's/5, 25's/5, 25's/5, 25's/5,
Cable cross overs: 20's/5 20's/5 20's/5 20's/5

I told him to lower the volume but he said no, and that the pros use high volume. He was also going on about some crap with working the "upper", "middle" and "lower" chest. Oh well.

Ok, here goes:

Deadlift: 305/2, 315/2, 315/2, 305/2, 305/2
*** No straps finally!!! YES! I took Pietro's advice and tried the over under grip. Ace. None of those sets were even close to failure. I'm doing submax sets for deadlifts. Skipped a set due to time restraints

Pulldowns: 100/12, 110/10
Seated Row: 110/10
Standing Overhead DB extension: 60/10, 65/8

excellent workout. I'll update later. Gotta get to work.

Thanks Pietro.

Oh I should have gotten back to Celestrial... I don't think you wanna go on a date with me, my cold/lack personality will scare you off.

Anyways, as a continuation of my previous log, there's nothing that much to log. I got in all of my meals...

Just a few comments though, I have done higher reps in a long time but I like it. I think that going heavy and low reps submaximally with the big 3, Dead, Squat, Bench, while doing higher reps to failure for other exercises will give me nice hypertrophy, while advancing in strength gains as I might do a powerlifting meet sometime this spring. Higher reps is also a nice change from low ones as mentally, it's not as taxing. I shall be squatting either tomorrow or Sat. Depending on how I'm feeling.

As well, not using straps is a great feeling. I guess my grip is pretty strong after all.

Whoa, I worked from 10:30am to 7:15pm today. It was so busy in the store and my feet really hurt. Nonetheless, I went to the gym at 8:00. It was leg day:

Ass to the Floor sub max squats: 245/3, 245/3, 225/3, 225/3
Leg Press: 5x45's + a 35 a side/7, 5x45's + a 35 a side/6, 5x45's + a 35 a side/7
Leg curl: 110/8

I haven't done legs in 2 weeks so the weights lifted weren't bad at all. I skipped calves 'cause the gym closes at 9:00.
Work tomorrow, but not at the department store. It will be gardening work :(
Btw, Syntekz, you better drink your milk, take your vitamins and say your prayers because I'm gaining on you...;)

Well well well, excellent workout today.

submax bench press: 170/4, 180/3, 190/2, 195/2
Flat bench flyes: 60's/6, 60's/6, 60's/6
BB curl: 80/6, 70/8, 60/11
Standing DB shoulder press: 35's/10, 35's/10, 40's/9

As I expected, the Standing DB presses will jump up quickly as my neuro system adapts. I was a dork. I shouldn't have added that last 5 pounds on my last set of bench. The last set wasn't as "submax" as it should have been. Everything is going up nicely. I love this new program.

Funny stuff at the gym:
There was this ugly kinda chubby girl about 16 or so with her boyfriend. I was doing my curls and she says to her boyfriend, "Where are the lightest weights?"
She goes on to explain that her jazz teacher said she had to tone her muscles and she couldn't add anymore muscle. So she sat there doing like super fast 2.5 pound DB curls.
Now here's the funny thing: There was this lady about 30 or so. Her body was like Monica Brandt's but she was not as big as Monica. She had implants and stuff and a beautiful face. Her body was nice and sleek, not too cut and not big at all; just nice definition. So the little fat 16 year old girl goes on to say to her boyfriend how gross this 30 year old beautiful lady was. To be honest, that lady was probably one of the most beautiful real women that I have ever seen! The fat girl said she was too big and too ripped and this ****. I was gonna take my 80 pound BB and throw it at the tubby girl. Yeesh, some people's kids.

Anyways, great workout, AND DEADLIFTS WEDNESDAY!!!

Have a great day everyone.

Note: I am not against girls that are a little tubby. Only when they criticize women with beautiful bodies.

So why didn't you make a smart ass remark to the chubby jazz girl? Like "stfu or I'll shove a candybar in your mouth" or something. :)

Nice workout. Just wait til I start keeping a journal and you can see my pathetic lifts.

Hey, what the hell do you mean you don't like classic rock? I know you're a big NSYNC fan and all but...

Get over it and get on with it. Rejection happens...to us all. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. There will be other girls and other dates, but all this negativity/whining is doing nothing productive.

Bah, crap day. Really crap day. I was really tired so I slept for an hour and a half before the workout. And i'm a dumbass. My hands were dry so I put on moisturizing cream before deadlift day... As you will see later, it screwed everything up:

Deadlifts: 315/2, 325/1 (wtf!!!! :swear: ), 315/1 (wtf!! :swear::shoot: ), 305/2, 305/2
***These sets were supposed to be submax sets. Well they kinda were. My 2nd and 3rd set sucked. The grip gave out after the 1st rep. I dunno what happened. Must have been the moisturizing cream and fatigue. :(

Pulldowns: 110/12, 110/10
Seated Rows: 120/9
Standing tricep extensions: 60/12, 65/11, 65/8

What a crappy day. Oh well.
Btw, I'm doing a large powerlifting meet in May. It's the BC highschool provincials. I think I can come in top 3 in my weight class. I just have to make sure I don't get past my weight class (165) I'm at like 167 right when i'm really bloated... :(

I dunno what else there is to note about. I'm tired... must rest. Have a good day everyone.

Damn, I'm tired today. To make things even worse, I'll have to work 21 hours this weekend and I have loads of homework. Oh well.

ATF squats: 225/3, 255/3, 245/3, 225/3
*** The set with 255 was a bit hard. All the other sets were sub max
Leg Press: 5x45's+35/8, 6x45/7, 6x45/7
Leg curl: 110/8, 110/6

I think that there is a problem with my hip flexors as in they are weak. I could barely walk after my first set of squats. Maybe they're tight, or perhaps they're weak. I'll have to speak to some people about it.

Anyways, good day at the gym. Off to work until 10:00 pm :(

Have a nice day folks.

Well hell, I worked 22 hours this past weekend and I was beat. Skipped school until last block and got a call from my physics teacher because I've been missing that class lots.

deadlifts: 305/2, 315/2, 325/2, 305/2, 305/2
*** The 3rd set was done with straps :( I think i might have to drop the weight a little. These sets were pretty close to failure and my back and hip flexors have been beat.

Pulldowns: 2 sets
Seated row: 1 set
*** I won't post the poundage because I worked out at a different gym with different machines as my own gym

Standing DB press: 40's/10, 45's/9, 45's/9
*** I didn't really warm up. Maybe i should have :(

Ez Bar curl: 85/5, 75/8
Static holds: 305/14secs, 305/9secs
*** The first set was with a over - under grip. Second was with overhand grip

Ok, I'm beat. My body is destroyed. Oh well. Only the strong survive and only the wise excel right?

Have a nice day everyone.

Workout for today:
02/04/11

Chest/Tri's

Sub max bench: 170/4, 180/3, 185/3, 195/2 (2 sec pause at the bottom for the first rep)
Flat bench flyes: 60's/6, 45's/6, 45's/6
***Bah, this trainer guy told me that I was pressing my flyes too much! So I dropped the weight to work on the form. I think the weights will be better next week and with better form

Standing DB ext: 65/11, 65/11, 65/10
*** Damn, my elbow hurts

Static holds: 315/16secs, 315/6 secs
***First set was done with a over/under grip

Anyways, all in all, it was a decent workout. Not as good as it could have been, but oh well. Legs tomorrow.

I would agree with him looking at the weight you are using. I'd think if you used proper fly form 60lb DBs would have ripped your arms off. Try using 30s next time I bet you'll still have trouble with those if you are using good form.

Well, I've taken a week and a half off I think because I was overtrained, and the program that Maki gave me broke my back. I trained with the bloke today. He squatted 400. I was pretty impressed.

squat: 225/3, 245/3, 245/2, 225/3
***Sets not to failure

bench: 155/4, 175/3, 185/3, 200/2
***Last set I did a pause at the bottom for a second and a half then drove it up. The second rep was to failure; I shouldn't have done that

That's all. I just wanted to make sure my lifts were done so I wouldn't get too weak.

Tomorrow, April 20th is 4-20, it's also Adolf Hitler's birthday... coincidentally, it's my birthday...

I slept in t'ill 1:00pm, therefore i skipped school. All this work is tiring me out. Oh well

Deadlifts: 205/2, 225/2, 250/2, 275/2, 300/2, 320/2
*** No straps on any of the sets. It was sweet. I could see a bunch of people stop what they were doing and looking at me deadliftin in my side of the gym while I was pulling the 320.

Pulldowns: 110/11, 110/9
Seated row: 117.5/10
Standing DB tricep extension: 60/10, 65/8, 65/8

All in all, a good work out. It was my first real session in 2 weeks I think because I took time off as I was overtrained.

Something has to be done. I'm faultering in every aspect of my life; school, working out and even health.

I've been just so tired lately and I feel like doing nothing. On monday, I slept for 12 hours and I missed school, Tuesday, I slept in t'ill 11:00 and only went to last block and yesterday, I slept from 6:00pm - 11:00pm, then went to bed again and 5:00am. Something is wrong here.

My workout today sucked ass and I was about to leave after the first few sets.

Bench: 155/4, 175/3, 185/3, 200/2
*** Last rep of the last set was failure... it's not supposed to be to failure.. i didn't progress
Flyes: 35's/6, 40's/6, 45's/6
BB curls: 85/6, 70/8

I skipped shoulders. I need to divise a new plan. I'm gonna be forced to spend a little less time on the computer. I'll go to bed earlier, and make sure I get to ALL of my classes as well, I'm bumping calories up. If i still feel really out of it, I'll go to the docs... Everything sucks right now I'm either iron defficient, or heading down the road to depression lol. Let's hope it's none of the above.

Perhaps I should write down the program. As some of you know, I'll be competing the B.C. High school powerlifting championships and Maki has given me a program so that I would peak by the day of the competition. It's a little confusing. I will be working with my theoretical maxes each week submaximally. The goal is to be able to change my theoretical maxes each week. My orginal theoritical maxes are:

Dead: 335
Squat: 270
Bench: 200

These numbers are kinda low, but it's better to start a bit lower so I don't burn out.

Here's the program:

Rest periods: 3-4 mins

Week 1

Monday: Bench,Squat,Dead lift using 60% of your 1RM.

60%:

Sets and Reps: 4x6

Thursday: Dead lift, Squat, Bench
Use 50% of your 1RM.
Figure them out yourself.
Follow the order of the exercises for each week.

Sets and Reps: 4x6

Friday: Auxillary exercises. In other words do 2 sets of 6-8 reps for the muscle groups you feel are weak in your lifts.
Not to failure.

Week 2

Monday: Dead lift, Squat, Bench
60% of your 1RM

Sets and Reps: 4x5

Thursday: Bench, Squat, Dead lift
Use 50% of your 1RM

Sets and Reps: 5x5

Friday: same as above

Week 3

Monday: Squat, Bench, Dead lift
Use 70% of your 1RM

Sets and Reps: 3x4

Thursday: Bench, Dead lift, Squat
Use 60% of your 1RM.

Sets and Reps: 5x4

Friday: same as above

Week 4

Monday: Squat, Dead lift, Bench
Use 80% of your 1RM.

Sets and Reps: 3x3

Thursday: Bench, Squat, Dead lift
Use 65% of your 1RM

Sets and Reps:5x3

Friday: same as above

Week 5

Monday dead lift, Squat, Bench
Use 90% of your 1RM

Sets and Reps: 2x2

3 days later
Use 65% of your 1RM
Any order.

Sets and Reps:1x2

Week 6

Monday Dead lift, Squat, Bench
Use 90% of your 1RM

Sets and Reps: 2x2

Friday
Repeat, your 90% 1RM should be higher again.

Again, the goal is to do more than my %'s for that week so then the new %'s will be ajusted to the new weights.

Now on the 11th of June try out 95% of your 1RM.
Your maxes should be higher than previously before.

Today's workout:

Monday: Dead lift, Squat, Bench
60% of your 1RM

Sets and Reps: 4x5

Theortical 60%:
Dead: 200
Squat: 162
Bench: 120

Lifts:

Dead: 200/5, 200/5, 205/5, 210/5
*** Done explosively

Squat: 165/5, 170/5, 170/5, 170/5
***Done ass to the ground with a 2 sec pause and explosive lift off

Bench: 120/5, 125/5, 125/5, 125/5
*** Done legally with an explosive concentric portion

New theoretical maxes:

Deads: 342
Squat: 283
Bench: 208

I will be using those numbers as my new maxes for the next workout.

Hey McBain... You will die in our battle to the finish!! Mouhahaha

Use 70% of your 1RM

Sets and Reps: 3x4

Theoretical 70% lifts:
Squat: 198
Bench: 145.6
Deadlift: 239

Lifts:

Squat: 195/4, 200/4, 205/4
Bench: 145/4, 145/4, 150/4
***The first set was weird so I didn't increase weight for the 2nd set. The second set was easy though so I increased 5 pounds in the last set. Sets were done with a 1.5 second pause at the chest

Deadlift: 240/4, 240/4, 245/4

New theoretical maxes:

Squat: 292.9
Bench: 214.3
Dead: 350

Now if I can actually lift those at my meet on the 16th, I'll be kicking some ass. Let's hope for the best.

Monday: Squat, Dead lift, Bench
Use 80% of your 1RM.

Sets and Reps: 3x3

Theoretical 80% lifts:

Squat: 234
Dead: 280
Bench: 170

Lifts today:

Squat: 235/3, 235/3, 240/3
***First set was a little hard 'cause I wasn't concentrating. The second was easy so I added 5 pounds

Deadlift: 280/3, 285/3, 285/3
***Easy. Very easy

Bench: 175/3, 175/3, 180/3
*** I am dumb. Seriously. I thought my 80% was 175 so I started at that. It wasn't easy, nor was it hard. So I wanted to add 5 pounds and I did 180; that was rather hard. 10 pounds over my theoretical 80%!! So dumb. I'm gonna base my new maxes on 175 and not 180. Each rep was done with a "One-one thousand" pause at the bottom

New theoretical maxes:

Squat: 300
Dead: 356.25
Bench: 218.75

I quit. It's butterfly catching time!

Well geeze, I did speed day today (which was supposed to be done thursday). Not good.

Maki wants me to do my speeddays based on the number in between my new theoretical max, and my starting max at the biggining of the program. So today was 65% day:

Speed Bench: 135/3, 135/3, 135/3, 135/3, 135/3
***Speed was pretty good.

Speed squat: 185/3, 185/3, 185/3, 185/3
***Good speed again. I skipped one set due to time

Speed deads: 225/3, 225/3, 225/3, 225/3
*** Skipped one set due to time

Overhand static holds: 315/7 secs. 315/8 secs or so.

Theroretical 85%:
Dead: 305
Squat: 255
Bench: 185

Lifts:

Dead: 295/2, 310/2
***I'm so dumb. I thought 295 was 305. Some university student I am. Second set i did more than my theroretical max and it was easy

Squat: 255/2, 260/2

Bench: 185/2, 185/2
***This was bad. It was hard with the pause at the bottom. I don't think I can get 218 right now for 1. This sucks :(

Static Holds: 315/10 secs, 335/6 secs, 335/0 secs
***This was demoralizing. I quit.

New theroretical maxes:

Had 90% day on Monday, and today is 90% day again.

Commencements are tomorrow, and my grad is this weekend!!!!!!

I thought I'd bump this up with a few recent pics. I accidently dieted down.... let me explain, 2 months ago, I started powerlifting so I said "ah screw my diet, who cares if i'm not eating enough" So I lost a few pounds and got much leaner. This pics have poor lighting and bad quality so I'm actually leaner than the pics show me to be.

Wow. School is almost over. Then off to university. I got my tux today and I must say, I look sharp.

Today was 90% day:

I tried to just improve upon my last 90% day.

Legal Bench press: 190/2, 190/2
*** I finally figured out why my bench was struggling. A week ago, I began moving the bar down really slow. That's what made me weaker. Bad news though, on the last rep of my second set, I felt a dull pain running down my left shoulder and arm. I could move it, but it was uncomfortable. I then did heavy squats which loaded that body part even more... tuttut

Squat: 280/1 + 1 fail, 280/2
*** I just lost concentration on the first set. My second set was done with ease.

Deadlift: 335/2, 335/2
*** Oh hell ya.

I won't bother calculating my new theroretical maxes. I'm too lazy.

But as of now, I hope to achieve these numbers at my meet which is only 9 days away:

Squat: 290
Bench: 205
Deadlift: 355

BTW, I kinda forgot to mention that I can't move my left arm anymore. It's gotten rather stiff since the workout... Oh crap...

Wow. I had my grad this weekend, and I'm still looking to scan pics of them. We had it at the hotel Vancouver; a 5 star hotel. It was rather beautiful. I'll give more details when I post the pics.

Anyways, after my workout last thursday, I thought I tore my rotator cuff. I couldn't move my left arm for 3-4 days. I was thinking about dropping the meet because I couldn't move it at all! I got good range of motion on it just this past monday so I decided to go in and train today. My arm feels a lot better. It's probably at about 95%. I've decided to do the meet. Here are my lifts today if anyone cares:

Squats: 285/2, 285/1
*** Man, I could have repped out 5-6. It was soooo easy.

Deadlifts: 340/2
*** Very easy

I skipped bench because of my shoulder.

I'm gunning for these lifts at the meet:
Squat: 305
Bench: 195 (Depending on the shoulder)
Dead: 360-365

Stfu maki!! Your stupid program has destroyed my chest. I did chest last wednesday and I still haven't regained good range of motion in my chest. At night, I've been grimacing in pain and the pain has prevented me from sleeping  :swear:

02/07/02:

I finally went to the gym today as my chest didn't feel like breaking as bad as the other previous days.

I did some very light high rep flyes with 12.5 pounds to get a stretch. It helped a bit. Now for the workout:

Giant set:

Squat: 205/12
Leg Ext: 90/12 + 3 partials
Leg press: 3 Wheels a side for 12
***This was more or less a test workout. It was difficult but not that bad because the weights were light. I should adjust the weights better next time. I also had to take a really narrow grip for squats with my arms because I couldn't put them far as my chest would not stretch that far. Stupid maki for ruining my chest!!!

I'll go back to do some light flyes tomorrow and calves.

Meals will be 5 after this post.

Whoa. Chest/Back was supposed to be done Wednesday... but oh well, my chest was still stiff thanks to maki's killing program.

1 drop set - Incline DB press: 55's/15, 30's/12, 20's/10
***I did some warm up sets and my chest was really really tight. I stretched it out and worked through it and it then seemed fine.

1 drop set - Flat bench flyes: 40's/12, 25's/10, 12.5's/10
*** I'm gonna drop the weight on the 40's. My form isn't too great

1 Drop set - V bar Pull downs: 90/15, 60/12, 40/10

1 Drop set - Seated Cable row: 90/15, 60/12, 40/10

I love these workouts. They're tough. I should be adding one more exercise to each body part in a few weeks.

I didn't count calories today, but I did eat over 4500 cals for sure.

Just for good measure, I'm gonna have natural peanut butter and Ice cream in a bit ;)

Had a shoulder session last Friday did 1 drop set of DB shoulder press 15,12,10. Also did the same with machine rear delt flyes.

Did arms last night. Shitty ass session. I think it was just a string of late nights that made me so weak. I didn't progress, and infact, my weights dropped. I won't bother posting the weights.

Tonight is leg day. I think I might try 2 giant sets depending on how I feel.

Weights for 02/07/15:

Giant set:

Narrow stance squats:220/12
Leg Ext: 90/12
Leg press: 4x45's+35 on left side, 3x45's+35 on right side/12
***Friggin hell. After I damn near passed out after the giant set, I was set to unrack the weights and I saw that I had one more 45 on the left side of the leg press than I did on the right side. Some fooker must have stolen my plate when i wasn't looking. The weird thing is, I didn't notice it during my set.

1 drop set single leg DB calve raise: 75/14, (forget the rest)

1 drop set seated calve raise: 3plates/15, 2 plates/12, 1 plate/10

Haha so lazy. I haven't trained in about 5 days. Here's today's sesh. I progressed on pretty much everything:

02/07/26

Chest:

1 Drop set incline DB press: 65's/13, 35's/11, 25's/8

1 Drop set flat bench flyes: 35's/14, 25's/11, 17.5/9

1 Drop set Machine chest press: 125/15, 80/12, 50/10

1 Drop set Close grip pull down: 100/15, 65/12, 45/10

1 Drop set seated cable row: 95/14, 65/11, 45/10

1 Drop set Machine row: 132.5/15, 90/12, 50/10

I worked all day today so I was pretty tired. I also found out that I won 1000$ today from a government scholarship because of my Provincial Exam marks so I'll use that money for my gym membership and supps this fall for the whole school year. Well I don't really swear on them but Maki told me to do them and whatever Maki says, I do. They're not taxing on my CNS because the volume is very low. I only do 3 drop sets for each body part. My body has adjusted quite well. When I first started this routine, I couldn't even move the for the next week. Now I don't get sore.

Holy crap! It's been too long. I'm back. I didn't work out for about 3 weeks and a bit. First week of August, I was on a Vacation then I got sick for a week. Then after that, I've been busy cleaning up the condo I'm moving into and painting it. I've already moved all my stuff and I'm ready for university starting next Tuesday. Crazy eh? Well now i'm back on with training and I trained last night:

02/08/27:

Chest:

1 drop set incline DB press: 65's/12, 35's/9, 25's/7
***I didn't loose that much strength during my time away. So it's all good. In a few weeks, I'll be better than ever.

1 drop set flat bench flyes: 35's/13, 25's/8, 17.5/7

--------------------------

Back:

1 drop set Close grip pull downs: 105/13, 65/9, 45/7

1 drop set seated machine row: 140/12, 100/9, 50/7

Not bad considering I haven't worked out in almost a month. I'm heavier right now than I've ever been though. So I guess that's a good thing. Until next time everyone!

Go away Manveet.

So anyways, I did a leg work out on Tuesday. The only weights I remembered were my squats.

1 Drop set: 215/11, 115/9, 95/7

Here's what I did yesterday:

02/09/05:

Chest:

1 drop set incline DB press: 65's/13, 35's/9, 30's/7

1 drop set hammer strength Bench press

1 drop set flyes

----------------------------------------

Back:

1 Drop set Close grip pull down: 120/13, 90/9, 60/7

1 Drop set seated row: 120/13, 90/9, 60/7

I decided to do some deadlifts for fun. Remember, I haven't worked out for like 3 weeks prior to last one. I also haven't deadlifted in about 3 months:

Deads: I did a few warm ups and then I tried 309 and pulled that off for 2 easily. Then after I slapped on 329 and got 1 rep easily.

That's all folks. Enjoy your day.

Well looky here. I found myself a new training partner for the school year. I told him to do what I do so it should be pretty good.

Awesome training session today. I'm doing higher volume now and my body hasn't yet been adjusted to it. I was supposed to do Chest and Shoulders today. However, we ran out of time and decided to skip shoulders and pair it with back tomorrow.

Chest:

Low Incline DB press: 70's/8, 65's/8, 60's/8

Hammer Strength Chest press: Weights are on each side:
70/8, 80/8, 90/7

Flat bench flyes: 35's/8, 35's/8, 35's/7

----------------------------

Did a set of shoulders and decided to do shoulders tomorrow

I should also note that I started a new program. This one is higher volume and it's tiring but hopefully the results will be good.

Back:

Wide grip pull downs: 120/8, 130/8, 120/8, 110/8

Hammer strength rows:
70 a side/8, 70 a side/8, 65 a side/7, 65 a side/6

Seated rows: 120/8, 120/8, 130/8, 130/8

-----------------------------------------------------

Shoulders:

Only 3 sets today because of the volume I did during back:

Seated DB press: 45's/8, 50's/8, 45's/8

02/09/17:

LOL I've devised a new plan for my University life. I'm not gonna go to my Philosophy or Micro Economics Lectures. You may ask why? Well both those teachers teach straight out of the book. With over 150 people in each of those classes, I don't get any personal help. It's better for me to just sleep in and read the text books. I will however, go to the discussion/tutorial groups for those classes as the T.A. does give you personal help because those classes are once a week and have less than 25 people in them.

Training:

Today was arms day. It was fun. I haven't done arms in about 3 weeks or so now.

Biceps:

Standing DB alt Curls: 35's/8, 35's/8, 35's/7

Preacher EZ bar curls: 65/7, 65/6

Rope curls: 75/8, 75/8

***It was good to do a bicep workout again. Although I wasn't really exhausted from it at all.

-----------------------------------------

Triceps:

Seated Overhead DB Ext: 60/8, 65/8, 65/8

Rope press downs: 80/8, 75/8, 70/8

-----------------------------------------------

Overall, it was a nice workout. It's also good to have a training partner. A trainer partner gives me more motivation.

Alright folks, you're in for a treat. This will be a double journal in one! Let me begin by adding that I did a leg work out this past Monday but I didn't bother recording the numbers because it was cut short. I did Chest and Shoulders Yesterday:

02/09/19:

Chest:

Flat Bench DB press: 60's/8, 65'/7, 60's/8

*** This will up next week. I haven't done that exercises in years so it felt really awkard. I didn't really have the balance for it.

Hammer Strength iso press:
90 a side/7, 80 a side/8, 80 a side/8

Machine Flyes: 115/8, 115/8, 130/8 (I think)

-----------------------------------------------

Shoulders:

Seated DB shoulder press: 45's/7, 40's/7

*** My shoulders were really fatigued from the chest work before.

Db lateral raises: 20's/8, 20's/8

Machine rear delt flyes: 115/8, 115/8

------------------------------------------------------

Now on to today: It was back day today.

02/09/20

Back:

Extra wide grip pull downs: 120/8, 120/8, 120/8

Hammer Strength iso-rows:
70 a side/8, 65 a side/8, 65 a side/8

Seated rows: 130/8, 140/8, 140/8, 140/6

Close grip pull downs: 120/8, 120/7

--------------------------------------------

My training partner gained 4 pounds from last week... Me? I gained nothing :(. As well, I think I might be coming down something. I feel something in my chest.

I want to end off today's journal with a cliche:

"The more things change, the more they stay the same"

Damn. I've been sick of a while so I have lifted in a week and a bit. But I'm better now so I lifted today. However, I didn't go to school today 'cause I was too lazy.

02/10/03:

Chest:

Flat Bench DB press: 60's/8, 65'/6, 60's/8

*** This wasn't bad since I haven't been in for a while. The sets weren't to failure

Hammer Strength iso press:
80 a side/6, 70 a side/6, 70 a side/6

***Eeek! Huge drop from last time. My muscles were fatigued early.

Machine Flyes: 130/8, 130/8, 130/7

-----------------------------------------------

Shoulders:

Seated DB shoulder press: 50's/6, 45's/6, 45's/5

*** My shoulders were just dead at this point. That's why the weights were so crappy

Machine rear delt flyes: 115/8, 115/8, 115/7

------------------------------------------------------

I better get rolling.

Anyways, back day today and boy was I trashed. High volume and without gloves = painful hands :(

02/10/04

Back:

Extra wide grip pull downs: 120/8, 125/7, 120/8

Hammer Strength iso-rows:
70 a side/8, 70 a side/8, 70 a side/7

Seated rows: 140/8, 130/8, 130/8,

Close grip pull downs: 120/7, 120/6, 110/8

--------------------------------------------

None of the sets were really to failure because of the volume. I think I'll finally get in 5 meals today for the first time in 2 weeks! SCORE!

Could it be Reasonable to Accept an Untestable Hypothesis?

The answer to the question of “Could it be Reasonable to Accept an Untestable Hypothesis” would be no. However, if a strongly unfulsifiable hypothesis were given auxiliary assumptions, then the statement would be testable.
For example, in Sober’s example of the hypothesis “God exists,” he states that Positivists believe that “God exists” is not a priori because according to the Positivists, the statement isn’t decidable on definitions alone. As well, Positivists state that “God exists” is not a posteriori because there is no way to use observations to decide whether the statement is true or not. Therefore, “God exists” is not a testable statement. Sober describes that in science, confirmation and disconfirmation are intimately connected. He says that an experiment has different possible outcomes. If some outcomes would be evidence in favor of the hypothesis, then other outcomes would be evidence against it. So now we look back at the question if it would be reasonable or not to accept an untestable hypothesis, it would be no. If a hypothesis cannot be tested, there cannot be statements or results that can prove, or disprove the hypothesis. This relates to the only game in town fallacy that Sober has talked about. Simply stating a hypothesis that cannot give out any evidence to rule out or support the hypothesis would not be reasonable.
However, Sober states that “Sometimes the idea of observational testability is developed with reference to the concept of falsification.” Sober states that “Hypothesis rarely deductively imply predictions all by themselves” but one must conjoin auxiliary assumptions A to a hypothesis H to get H to deductively imply an observational prediction
O. For the statement “God exists” that is deemed strongly unfalsifiable, one can make that statement testable by adding auxiliary assumptions. The auxiliary assumptions that Sober uses as examples are: Labeled A1: “If there is a God, there will be living things in the world and they will be perfectly adapted to their environments” and another one Sober uses is labeled “If there is a God, there will be no living things.” The hypothesis that there is a God, when conjoined with A1, predicts something we can check or test, by making observations. This would be the same if we conjoined the hypothesis “God exists” with A2. However, Sober states that “Not only are auxiliary assumptions needed if the hypothesis is to make observational predictions; in addition, those auxiliary assumptions must be checkable independent of the hypothesis under the test.” To illustrate this point, view Sober’s example with Sherlock Holmes. Holmes wants to test the hypothesis that Moriarty is the murderer. If Holmes finds a size 12 footprint, an El Supremo butt on the carpet next to the victim, and a bullet from type X gun, Holmes will use auxiliary assumptions to prove if Moriarty is the murderer or not. These auxiliary assumptions would be: A4: “Moriarty smokes El Supremo cigars, has a size 12 shoe, and uses type X gun” or A5: “Moriarty does not smoke, has a size 8 shoe, and uses a knife as his preferred murder weapon.” These two auxiliary assumptions are independent of the hypothesis of “Moriarty is the murder” because Holmes can find out whether A4 or A5 is true without having to already know if Moriarty is the murder. On the other hand, it isn’t clear whether or not the same can be done with the auxiliary hypothesis about God’s nature like A1 and A2. The reason for this is that we cannot prove whether A4 or A5 are true without assuming that God is responsible for what we observe.

In conclusion, hypothesis would not be reasonable without being able to be tested. But hypothesis that are not strongly falsifiable can be supplemented with auxiliary assumptions to make the statement testable. However, these auxiliary assumptions must be independent of the hypothesis that they are to prove.

LOL you know that essay that was assigned 2 weeks ago and I had to present it in my Philosophy Discussion today? Well I was working on it on campus earlier and I didn't have a disk so I saved that on WBB so I could copy it back to work on it some more. Haha I haven't been to that class's lecture in 3 weeks and the essay only took me 45 min to write and I got 79% in it! LOL.

Manveet

The 79% is because it kind of made sense but it looks like you put it together in 45 min grasshopper. If you want to understand the proper formulation of a hypothesis read Understanding Science by Strahler and Scientific Literacy by Bauer, then your essay will get you an "A" young impetuous one.

Okay, you may commence hating me again.

Hello my friends! I had a leg work out last night and I'm gonna post that. I also did arms tonight so IT'S A DOUBLE JOURNAL!! Don't y'all love that? And I found out that my roomate has a digital camera. That means y'all will get to see me more often!

02/10/09 Training:

Squats: 225/8, 235/6, 225/6

Leg press: 4 wheels+25/6, 4 wheels+25/6, 4 wheels+25/6

Cybex hamstring curls: 90/8, 97.5/8, 97.5/8

Cybex leg ext: 110/8, 110/8

None of the sets were to failure. It was my first leg work out in 3 weeks or so! Boy were my legs weak. The squat actually felt uncomfortable to me. So funny though, while I was on the leg ext, some guy asks to work in with me so I said sure. So he gets on, and starts making humping/thrusting motions on the machine. I thought he was adjusting the seat or something... until he friggin continues humping for like 2 minutes. I was soooo confused

--------------------------------------------

02/10/10 - Arm Day:

Biceps:

Ez bar curls: 65/8, 70/6, 70/6

Standing DB alt Curls: 30/8, 30/8

Standing cable curls: 75/8, 85/8

***Wtf? it was my first bicep work out in a few weeks and they were sooo weak. I mean, Manveet is doing 90 or so on EZ bar curls and i'm doing 70??? The sets weren't to failure but that's not excuse. The form was picture perfect but that's not an excuse either.

-----------------------------------------

Triceps:

Seated Overhead DB Ext: 65/8, 70/8, 70/8

Press downs: 85/8, 95/8, 100/8

***All easy and not to failure. However, I might have to drop all extensions soon. My elbows have been bothering me lately and they're in pain during the extension sets. FRIGGIN HELL!

Got two mid terms, calculus and politcal science next week. Tomorrow is back day. I think I'm supposed to go meet up with this guy on the board that actually goes to my university to train tomorrow. His name is "Rastaman."

On another note, my god my campus gym is such a 'glamour' gym. There were at least 5 guys when I went with 17 + inch arms and cut at the same time. And there were soooo many good looking ladies. Holy hell. I've been really inconsistant with training. I didn't train for a week. But I promised powergay that I'd train on Monday so I did. So on monday (October 29th), I took a long nap so my campus gym was closed. I decided to go the a gym in the city. Boy was that a mistake. The drop in fee was 10$. And when I got in, it was a rich peoples' health gym. There were about 15 45's in the whole place. There were no powercages and the place was filled with machines and bad rap music. So many Johnny Bravos there. There was one squat rack. I don't like those kinds though. If I was to fall, nothing would catch me so I would die. There was this really hot girl on the treadmill though. Her boyfriend was ****ing disgusting. He was big and tanned alright, but ****ing hell he had such bad acne on his back. I wonder what kinda abuse would cause that...

Anyways, I didn't do legs for 2 weeks prior to this so I managed to get 245/8, 250/7 and 250/6 on squats. None of the sets were to failure because I was afraid to fall and die. Now onto today's workout:

02/10/30:

Chest:

Flat Bench DB press: 80's/6, 70's/, 70's/7

Hammer Strength bench press press:
70 a side/8, 70 a side/7, 70 a side/7

15 degree incline db flyes: 35's/8, 40's/8, 45's/8
*** was really easy. I didn't know how much to do because I haven't done them in a while

-----------------------------------------------

Shoulders:

Behind the neck hammer strength shoulder press:
55 a side/8, 55 a side/7, 55 a side/6

DB lateral raise: 25's/8 then a drop set: 25/7, 15/6, 5's/8

Reverse Machine flyes: 100/8, 100/7

-------------------------------------------

All in all, it was a good work out. The really cute chick in my polisci class that I usually sit near and gawk at was at the gym today... I was gonna say something today but then she left... :( Oh well, now I know when she goes so I can stalk her!!!! :evillaugh

ok, since this is the only place I'm allowed to post and defend myself from false accusations, I'll do it here. It's funny how some guy can make a post in his journal and make up stuff that I never said and take my words, manipulate it, twist it to make me look like an idiot, but then I can't respond. Here was my reponse:

That was ridiculous. You took bits and pieces of my messages and posted them up leaving other messages out to make me look bad. The way you left out many messages made me look extremely un educated and plain stupid. Here is how it really went:

The argument started with him saying that he's an ultra conservative and that liberalism is a stupid ideology that is causing most of the U.S.'s problems. I told him that I wouldn't be stupid enough to label myself to one particular ideology because I think that there are good and bad to each and that we should use common sense to apply which is good and which is bad in different situations.

Then he was talking about how illegal 'aliens' were ruining the U.S. I did say I agreed with him on many points of that statement. But I did say that they're the ones that do the dirty work on the bottom of the work chain that no one else would do. He said that those jobs belonged to Americans and I said that I'm not sure if too many "Americans" would be willing to take those jobs. He said that those jobs would have to force people to pay better if those 'illegal aliens' weren't there to be paid next to nothing. I said I can see his point. But what isn't clear is whether or not regular Americans would take those so called 'dirty jobs'.

Then the argument about illegal aliens continued. I am not an illegal alien technically because I moved her legally when I was 4 months old and got citizenship when I was 4 years old or so. However, the people that got me in here legally got here illegally. My dad could have taken my mom and I illegally from Asia, but he chose to spend his money and sacrifice his chance and give the chance to his other sister. When his sister got to Canada, we got in legally.

Because of that, I can't say that all illegal immigrants can get out because that would be hypocritcal. Budiak says that it's not because I didn't come illegally. But I'm saying that the initial means I got here was.

Now this goes back to our argument, John, I NEVER, EVER said we should give back land to the Indians. NEVER. That wasn't my argument. I was saying to Budiak that technically, we're all (even the european settlers) illegal immigrants because the land was first inhabited by the Indians. Now budiak said that it was ok to take over their land because they didn't have laws and that because there wasn't an official state, the europeans rightfully was allowed to take it over and kill the original peoples inhabiting the land. He says that because the europeans made a state, and made laws, that now, illegal immigrants can't come in because there are laws.

Here is my argument: I was saying that laws are laws right? And if they're right laws, they should be right in all situations. So what I'm saying is that why is it right that the europeans can come into this land and live in it, and its ancestors can, but no one else can? Well budiak said it's law. Well I'm saying that that's pretty ridiculous that just because those that have power can make any laws they want to favor themselves.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that illegal immigrants coming in are right, or that indians should be given back their land, I'm saying that budiak should watch his huge generalizations about these 'illegal aliens' because technically we all are. It's just the white europeans had the power to take over this land by force. Doesn't make it right.

Now back to the greek comments. Budiak said that the indians should have been taken over because they were 'savages' and uncivilized. I asked him who decides what's civilized or not? I asked him if he thought the Greeks were civilized and he said: "Yes, so were the Romans." I then asked him if pedophilia was civilized and he said it wasn't. So I told him that the greeks were invovled in regular pedophilia and they thought it was civilized at the time. So it's all subjective.

Budiak also said laws were made to prevent savagery. I told him that's ironic because the europeans used savagery to rid the original inhabitants of the land, and then made laws to prevent 'savagery'.

Budiak also said illegal immigrants are costing tax payers money, wasting health care, and creating crime and other bad things. Well since my ties are 'from illegal aliens', I felt offended. I believe that I'm one of those that will be a driving force for my country, Canada. Just because I'm not an original inhabitant of this land doesn't mean I do it wrong. Remember, no one exept for the Indians were the first ones here. Oh, and to that point, Budiak said that no one was first to inhabit land and even the indians migrated somewhere. I felt that that was hypocrtical because he's saying that the white man can migrate there, but just because they put up 'laws' saying that no one else can, then it's right.

Oh, and then before all this, budiak was spouting off his ultra conservative views again. We were talking about welfare and how it screws over the working people. I agreed. A lot of cheats and assholes out there cheat the system and just sit there collecting welfare when they can do something with their lives. He said that welfare should be cut. I said it's not that cut and dry. I told him what if a guy who supports his family just lost his job due to him being laid off? And he can't find a job right away? What happens to his family and him? I said welfare should give his family temporary support until he or his wife can find a job to support his family. Budiak then says "Well too bad for him! Tought ****. This is America, Land of the Opportunity!" I mean, that's such an ignorant statement. It's easy to look down upon those that dont have it as easy when you're middle class and have had everything easy. What about those that become ill and can't work? Guess it's tough **** for them too right?

Look, I never made any absolutes and I was trying to argue some of his points. How he just posted some **** out of context was ridiculous.

You know what? I guess I'm different. I tend to think of all people as a whole and not segregated due to status, money, or even their state.

Oh, and that manveet comment was baseless. I never said any of the sort. We were talking about the Mayans a few months ago and I said that their sacrifices were ridiculous, and stupid. I said that religion can't be used to justify stupid acts. He said that their sacrifices weren't wrong because it was their religion and for their "God". I said that I don't agree with his conventionalist school of thought because just because "God" says it's right, doesn't necessarily mean it's right. Just like with this case.

For example, if I were to make a "religion" and it says that I must kill all brown people and slaughter manveet's family, and I said it was right because I'm doing it for my "God", then that's a crock load of ****.

Well, I will say that his comment about welfare was obtuse and bird-brained.

Being in a position where I was forced to use this system I will say that it saved me a lot of troubles. I find it interesting that some people who are fortunate enough to have the luxuries of life can make sweeping statements about something that they may never have experienced.

Alright, lol I take back my comment back. I just kinda added fuel to the fire I guess haha.

Anyways, Native Indians had laws, they were verbal not written. I mean, I can pull out an example right from my political science text book, "...the case of the Iroquois Nation Confederacy and its centuries old 'Great Law of Peace' comes to mind. The Iroquois consitution provided for equal say amongst five tribes, included political rights for women, processes for impeachment of leaders, and a requirement for formal amendment should changes be proposed. There is evidence that such Aboriginal thinking on governance and consitutions influenced later American 'federal thinkers' such as Benjamin Franklin, a 'framer' of the American Consitution(s)"

The Native Indians were civil, they were not savage.

It's very very easy to manipulate someone's message by only putting in bits and pieces and forming certain parts of a convo. Therefore, I saved the full conversation with Budiak from last night. It was saved from the AOL chat we had last night and it couldn't have been altered by me because AOL automatically saves it as an HTML file and I'm not good enough with computers to tamper with that. Here is the whole conversation. Anyways, after this, I'm done. Clearly no one is gonna change their beliefs. I believe that people should get equal opportunity to suceed and that welfare should be used as a temporary support net for those who have had misfortune. However, some ultra conservatives on here don't believe so and think that the status quo should remain the status quo and if you're unfortunate, then tough ****.

It's funny how budiak said that laws are to be respected. As manveet and rob pointed out before, the Indians did have laws. So weren't you saying before that if a territory had laws, then it can't be taken over? You also said that if the Indians had laws, the Europeans would have respected it and not taken it over... well obviously your history is a bit clouded.

And over the top big ron? How is it over the top when I'm saying that this land doesn't 'belong' to anyone? And how is it over the top when I'm questioning Budiak's claim that just because the europeans came over, took over the land and set up new laws makes it right and all powerful? And how is it over the top that I think that we should be compassionate about others misfortunes? Oh and as well, you said it was 'out of order' right? How is clearing my name out of order? I decided to clear things up by telling the WHOLE story, not just small fractions of the convo manipulated to make me look bad.

For those of you who think that welfare should be abolished and that if for any reason a person who loses his job, or becomes disabled and cannot work hence can't support his/her family is tough ****, or 'they have to deal with it', I seriously hope that one day, you will go through some hardship where you will not be able to support your family and you'll need someone's help. Maybe then, your middle/upper-middle class cocky self won't be so arrogant and ignorant anymore.

Without any further wait, here is the convo so you can all see for yourself what really happened:

Philo 100 – Dr. Tremain

“I am Thinking, so I exist”

In this essay, I will examine what makes the thought, “I am thinking, so I exist” something about which Descartes can be certain and as well, if he can also be certain of the parallel: “I am walking, so I exist.”
I believe that the thought “I am thinking, so I exist” is true. Well what happens if for example, there is an evil demon that controls all things in existence? Could it be possible that because of this demon’s deception, the thinking of an individual would not be sufficient enough to prove his or her existence? Well Descartes addresses this in The Second Meditation. Descartes addresses the possibility of a powerful demon bent on deceiving him. He describes: “But there is some deceiver or other, very powerful and very cunning, who ever employs his ingenuity in deceiving me. Then without doubt I exist also if he deceives me, and let him deceive me as much as he will, he can never cause me to be nothing so long as I think that I am something.” I agree with Descartes. Even if there was a demon bent on deceiving me, the act of him deceiving my thoughts proves that I am in existence to be deceived. Now let’s take for instance I am dreaming or hallucinating. This does not deny the fact that I am thinking. I could think that I am thinking within a dream, however, I have to be in existence of some realm to be able to think.
The second part of the question deals with whether or not the parallel, “I am walking, so I exist” can be held in certainty. I venture to say yes. “I am walking” is by no means “indubitable” because when I walk, I can possibly be dreaming that I am walking, or I can be hallucinating and thinking that I am walking. Or furthermore, an evil demon can be deceiving me making me believe that I am walking. However, if I’m not walking, the fact remains that I am thinking that I am walking. If I am in state of dreaming, and dreaming that I am walking, I am indeed not walking, but I am dreaming that I am therefore I do exist because I am dreaming. Identically, if I am hallucinating, I would have to exist to be able to hallucinate my state of walking. The scenario of a possible evil demon deceiving me into thinking that I am walking proves that I do exist based on my points earlier. The fact that the demon is tricking me into thinking that I am walking means that I have to exist to think that I am. Perhaps I am walking right now, and I am not in a dream, nor am I hallucinating, and nor am I deceived by a demon. If this is true, then I would have to exist because I am walking. So one can see that the phrase “I am walking, so I exist” holds true whether or not an individual is really walking or not.
The act of thinking or the act of doing something even if it is not really happening can be indubitable proof of one’s existence. Although we cannot be sure whether our perceived image of existence is accurate, we can be certain of one thing that was said by Descartes: “I am, however, a real thing and really exist; but what thing? I have answered: a thing which thinks.”

The problem with the second supposition of walking is flawed. You exist because you think you are walking is valid, but walking has nothing to do with it. The act of thought is all that is relevant. As long as you can be cognizant and self-aware your existence is assured, however, nothing else ever can be.

Ps. Descartes was a fruitcake.

I don't see how it is flawed. If you are actually walking, then you HAVE to exist to be able to walk.

ya, Descartes isn't cool.

How do you know you are walking? You could be tricked, or hallucinating, or dreaming. From your perspective, all you have is perception, which in and of itself may indicate existence, but nothing else.

Well that's my point, if you are tricked, hallucinating or dreaming that your'e walking, you have to exist to have those things happen to you.

But then the term "walking" is irrelevant. You could insert any act imaginable instead of walking, so don't get hung up on this single act that may or may not occur!

03/02/07:

Hahah ok. I thought I'd restart the journal again. I have not been working out consistantly at all. I got up to 174 during the Christmas break with really good strength, then I got sick and took 3 weeks off while on a starvation diet. Since then, I've been working out every other week. Not good. I went finally today and it's been a week since I worked out and 2 since I benched:

Today is Chest/Shoulders/Bi's:

Bench: 185/5, 185/3

Incline Hammer Strength Press: 70 pounds a side/12, 90 pounds a side/5

Flat DB flyes: 40's/8

Overhead DB press: 50's/6, 50's/5, 50's/5

EZ bar curls: 75/6, 80/4

Alt DB curls: 35's/6

Kinda weak but oh well. I gotta be consistant.

On a brighter note, this ****head really pissed me off and I couldn't do anything about it. This guy apparently used to pick up Maki when they were younger in high school. When Maki worked out with me at the campus gym, Maki pointed this ****er out. He's about 6'4" and maybe 270? A pretty big boy. So anyways, the gym is packed and I'm minding my own buisness doing some shoulder rotations and the idiot walks right behind me. He could have passed walking another route but he just has to walk behind me and I see him with the mirrors. So I see him walking so I have to stop my shoulder rotations with the weight so I don't hit him. He walks by me and then says: "Move out of the way". He then goes to his fag friend and says something about me and imitates my shoulder rotations. Real special guy. He's probably 26 or 27 and twice my size and acts tough to a Freshman. Some assholes just don't grow up.

:spam: Man, I just read the last 2 pages of your journal. lol. And yes, you were right in your conversation on AOL. The problem is they don't learn their history and what little they learn twist to make it seem like whatever they are doing is moral and justifies what they do. People do it all the time. There are plenty of examples of Europeans being more savage than Native Americans. Manveet's example about the Iroquois Confederation was good. The fact that Native Americans lacked laws in the European sense means absolutely zilch. Every history professor I ever had, regardless of their political standpoint, would laugh at the assertion that Romans, Greeks, or Europeans were so much less savage than Native Americans (yeah, I've talked to them about stuff like that). But people like to glaze over that. Ultra-conservative ideology is retarded and simple minded. Then again, ultra-liberal ideology is too though I dont see many of them walking around. You should of asked me for some examples since history was my first bachelors foo'!

I do remember feeling some tension on the right dumbell as I was doing my flies. Anyhow I fukn knock the guy out. He was bald so I got to watch the stages of swelling, it was a sweet visual, and everyone learned to walk around people that are in the middle of their lifts. Next time hit him with the dumbell, and if that doesn't work tell if to shut the fuk up.

Manveet was such a baby today. After the first set of bench, he was whining that he "wasn't into it". Maki loved my campus gym because of the atmosphere. There's tonnes of people and a lot of meat heads and loud music and fine, university women. Manveet said that all that distracts him.
