Greetings:

I need everyones assistance . . .

I've got a person I've been training for about a year and can't get this guy to put on much weight or muscle mass. His strength is improving dramatically, however.

He's gained about 10 lbs. total using the following routine/diet.

Original diet:

2700 cal daily, about 22% protein, no info. on carbs./fats, but it seemed to be loaded this way based upon his description of his daily meals, 4 x daily.

Revised diet: (worked up to this amount gradually over the past year)

3900 cal daily, 30p/15f/55c

Work-Out

3 x weekly, abbreviated routine 2 sets p/group to failure, weekly progression on reps. and weight.

His strength has gone up quite measurably, (bench from 135 to 225 for 2 x 7 reps.) but little noticable increase in weight and/or size. (starting weight 195, current weight 205 w/similar b/f levels)

He likes cardio and does weekly biking trips of 10 miles or so and runs a couple miles 2 x weekly. (absolutely will not give this up or decrease these activities)

Thoughts, suggestions, comments ?

Increase fat intake.

Try increasing weight training volume, and decreasing all that running and stuff.

It's the huge amount of cardio that is holding his progress back...
Either he wants to get big, or he wants to be a marathon runner.
He has to make a decision.
