I'm sure this is usually a "shirted" type of question, but I am speaking about raw benching. Should I be touching higher or lower on my chest? Any opinions, or does it matter that much? Thanks, guys!

Shirted will be a bit different compared to raw, but bringing it down anywhere close to the bottom of the sternum is optimal.

RAW i think the best spot is right on your chest line, before your belly, pressing in a straight line.

If I'm not mistaken, I think it depends more on where your forearms/elbows/wrists fall in line, which for *most* people is right below the sternum, like you said.
But this really kind of depends on how wide you grip the bar and how short/long your arms are.
