I've heard that for every pound of muscle gained, you will need to take in 50 more calories per day to maintain it. Can anyone validate this??

No and i dont think you will even get a valid response
Each lb of muscle uses up 6 more calories per hour, this is doing sweet feck all mind you so no weights, cardio, digestion etc etc
just eat :)

That is a general number that is thrown around, but there is probably more to it then that. Basically just figure your maintence calories go up as you gain more lean mass, or even more fat. Even fat needs calories to maintain.

Add in a cardio session, drop your portion sizes slightly to cut
to maintain add in a cardio session and monitor
