View Full Version : Alcohol Calories

I was told that the calories in alcohol are digestes differently than normal "food" calories, but there was no explanation why. I am wondering if there is anything behind this. (Maybe they said something about it being broken down into sugar...not sure...)

Alcohol has 7 Calories/gram and has a very high TEF (approaching 50% if I remember correctly). Due to how the body treats ethanol, they are digested differently...but many things are digested differently even within a macronutrient class (fructose vs. glucose, MCTs vs. LCTs, etc.).
