View Full Version : Cleans and Snatchs

so most people are proud of being able to benchpress a lot but i have a goal of being able to clean alot. ive never really done them before so right now im just getting form down without light light weight. my workout is:

monday: chest / back
tuesday: abs
wednesday: legs
thursday:abs
friday:arms / shoulders

i guess you could say it looks eerily similar to the WBB 2.0

what exercises should i hit harder to supplement cleans the most?

also my workout partner wants to start doing snatch so what exercises would be best for supplementing those? same thing?

Heavy deadlifts, power shrugs, and clean pulls.

Do the same thing for snatches, except you can use snatch grip.

You are going to do the snatch and clean aren't you? I would do Snatch on Monday, Cleans on Wednesdays, and both of them on Fridays if you are just learning th lifts. I just do a few sets of either snatches or cleans on my lower body days most of the time.

im not going to do snatch and cleans im just going to do cleans while a buddy does snatchs. i dont like snatch its weird. so would i do it monday and friday?

Yeah, I don't think you need that much specific ab work. Abs have very little potential for growth and strength. Do a little ab work, and squat/deadlift heavy.

i didnt mean tues & thurs were complete ab days. i do about 25 minutes of light cardio on tuesday and then thursday i do some hanging knee raise(variations). so i only specifically target abs 1 day per week and its only for about 2 sets of those raises. i dont have an "all out ab day" like some people do...

I would also do front squats if you really want to help your cleans.

Do them every session with light weight.

doing front squats and deadlifts will help you the most. if your powering cleaning do clean pulls.:thumbup:
