Yes this has been known for years. Smaller more frequent meals are better for some as they curb cravings by keeping you always semi-satisfied. For bulkers the more frequent meals make it easier to get in their calories. Regardless you gain or lose based on total calories.

the biggest reason for small meals frequent in my eyes is portion control. We all grow up with 3 big stuff your face meals. We don't understand portion control. Eating 5-7 small meals helps you control the size of those meals better.
Assuming it's true, it's good news for me. I'm too busy to have time for more than 3 meals a day...
