Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't waxy maize just some slightly purified corn starch?

essentially yes

I've used it on a bulk or two and really liked it. I took a ton every day though. Very good stuff.

browse through the WM thread though if you really are curious, tons of good info in there

I know but I dont understand why people pay so much for it if it's just corn starch...

its not just corn starch, but a purified, more soluble form.

It's good stuff, but I recommend the GlycoMaize from ON instead of the flavored stuff from IDS. I've got the fruit punch IDS WM and even though it's sugar free, it's got a very sweet taste.....too sweet IMO. I usually mix the GM in with some mono and protein.

i should add that it has a particular MW distribution and degree of crosslinking

I just purchased a tub of this stuff. I've used some other brands of carbohydrate (maltodextrin/dextrose) powders, a few which had bloating and others that didn't. It's nice to drink the shake without feeling like I just downed 600 calories in 10 seconds.
