how many grams of protein should be looking to take in per day?

i work out three times a week:

monday - arms and chest

wednesday - back and shoulders

friday - legs

pretty much all freeweights

im also going to start going in on saturdays to do a bit of cardio work.

so my question is ... how many grams of protein and carbohydrates need to be taken in a day?

also can anyone recommend a good pre workout meal?, i tied outmeal but it tastes like crap and i cant eat it .,,, any suggestions?

Your questions are difficult to answer because you haven't shared enough information yet. What are your stats, your goals, and your current diet?

I use the following:

Protein: 1g/1lb. (total bodyweight) or 35% of total calories
Carbs.: 2-3g/1lb. (total bodyweight) or 50% of total calories
Fats: 15% of total calories

Ideal preferences vary by individual, prepare for many different answers to this post.

my goal is to put on alot of muscle mass, and i also want to lose quite a bit of body fat,

im about 13.5 stone anda bout 6 foot 1 what that is in lbs i dont know because i dont know how to work it out

i also dont really have a fixed diet. i eat alot of eggs, beans, chicken, pasta and rice.

stone?? how can you measure weights in stone and be on a computer?? what civilization are you from?? but anyways, if you can, eat more than 13.5 stones of protein per day. that should be sufficient.

Eat as much as your goals require.
