hello, i have a question. right now i am 6 foot and around 210 pounds and overweight. im trying to train for my upcoming basketball season, so ive been dieting, and working out on my upper and lower body with dumbells. and i heard that if you are overweight and you build muscle at the same time, the fat that you already have will be somewhat "frozen" in under the muscle, and it will be difficult to lose. if this is true, should i just diet, and postpone weightlifting or what? thanks for any help

Muscle doesn't cover fat it's the other way around. Ever wonder why people who kill there abs still have a gut? The fat is still covering the muscle built underneath it. Only way to lose fat is to eat under maintenance and some form of cardio/HIIT. If you want to lose weight figure out your maintenance calories and eat about 300-500 less than that. As for lifting just read stickys here and listen to knowledgeable people and lift hard.

Lift heavy, Lift frequent, and eat clean plus less.
