View Full Version : My cut has reached a brick wall...

I lost 10 lbs, went from 196 to 186... but the same strategy I used to get me these results doesn't seem to be working anymore. I've hit a major plateau, the more I exercise and try to eat less, the more I seem to stay the same weight...
What causes a plateau? Do I need to change my diet? Do I need to eat even less? Or possibly more?

Yes you probably need to eat less or increase your workouts to burn more. Are you tracking your calories?

How long have you been dieting for and what kind of diet are you following?

I started this cut about 2 months ago, and I've lost 10-11 lbs so far...
My typical day of eating:
1 bowl of cereal with skim milk
1 protein shake
1 cup of vegetables with pieces of chicken
bowl of cottage cheese
banana and glass of skim milk
That is a typical day, and I'd say that has gotta be about 1000-1300 calories, very low for me cause I usually eat about 3000 calories on a bulk..

My recommendation would be to eat at maintenance for a week or two if you are not in any hurry... if so then just simply do a 2-3 day refeed and up the carbs. Eat over maintenance for 2-3 days (make up the most of the calories from carbs and try to keep the fat on the lowish side and protein at about bodyweight.) then resume dieting.

Well I went from 186.5 to 186 this week, according to my scale... not much progress there... and I exercised a lot and barely ate anything...
If this plateau continues, would it make sense to just bulk again, since this cut appears to be a waste of time?

Why not refeed like you were told? It could just be that you're slowing down or you're really not that great at tracking your cals.
