Strong lifting.

Remember to sit back on those box squats!

Sit back on the squats and don't plop onto the box. Sit, relax the hip flexors and explode up.

Nice work.

this is how i normally squat when i box squat (except for 8 weeks or so before a meet, then its all touch the box and up). BUT without spotters i'm thinking it might be a good idea to take the touch and go approach to box squatting. not the way he is in those videos, no cheating! but you can easily end your lifting career when relaxing the hips on a box with no spotters

what do you think ben?

Well, I see what you're saying but he's also going to break his spine flopping down on the box. There's a happy medium. From the looks of it, he's inside the rack so I don't think it would hurt to try it the right way.

i agree with you on the happy medium. when i said "no cheating," i meant no flopping like he's doing in the videos.

yes. Things I need to work on are sitting back a little more keeping my elbows under the bar and having a more efficient set up

I relize I flop on the box and I think its cause I divebomb when i free squat so I just need to pay extra attention to keeping things under control.

About releasing the hips on the box. I never really figured out how to do this. I feel too relaxed when i release my hips. my knees come in and i get all sorts of loose. Im going to play around with it next week

In the second video I do low box squats with a cambered bar. Is that sitting back and releasing the hips... or is it even more than that

Much better on the second rep of each set. Make sure you are fillling the belly with air and getting tight for the first one too. Nice improvement though!
