Ken has lost 5 in a row by KO. He has been dominated. This doesn't excite me. They still aren't giving Kimbo a viable opponent. Look at what the UFC has done with Lesnar. They gave him Mir and Herring. They aren't protecting him. They are giving him top notch opponents and making him prove he is a good fighter.

they just want to be able to say that Kimbo beat a former UFC Champion

Kimbo's got this by first round TKO....

I remember quite some years ago (when even back then everyone said ken was getting to old for MMA) he was smacked up big time by some average joe fighter in UFC.

This will be a massacre.... I want to see kimbo fight brock

if ken can manage not to get his old ass knocked out and can take it down he will win. Kimbo is fuking horrible off his back from what I've seen and gasses fairly quickly. Still waiting on a viable opponent for Kimbo instead of fighters who were in their prime 10 years ago.

It would be nice to see someone who can really fight kimbo. I'll watch it though. Definately.

Guess they got scared when Tomato Can Thompson actually gave Kimbo a fight. So they bring in "The World's Most Dangerous Man" so Kimbo can continue to build on his legacy. After this I am sure he will fight Don Frye and then Dan Sevren. I guess I will have to cheer for Ken, just so this garbage finally ends.

And to add, BJ Penn would maul Kimbo in an MMA fight and he gives up over 80 pounds to him at fighting weight.

I agree. In fact, if they want to dig up "old" champions for Kimbo to make a name off of, let him fight Royce. He might be one of the old guys who could beat Kimbo.

Now, I have nothing against Kimbo personally. I feel it is great he is able to make a living fighting now, especially considering the tough life he had and some of the things he has had to go through. He is finally making a descent living off of his talents and we should all be so lucky to do that in our lives. I dislike the way Kimbo was presented as the "Street Fighting Legend" and how he would destroy everyone in his path by EliteXC. Smarter MMA fans realized this was not true, but the general public caught on to this quickly. Because he almost lost to Tomato Can, they are now trying to give him another big name to maul in order to build on this rep. Most are no longer fooled and if Shamrock does pull this off, EliteXc could be in serious trouble.

Dana on Shamrock vs. Kimbo

"Another f***ing joke from Gary Shaw. This f***er is so clueless that it's laughable. First he thought we protected our guys, which is bulls**t. Then he gave us s**t for matching up Brock against Frank Mir. Which would he rather us do? Obviously he's in favor of protecting guys since Kimbo doesn't seem to be fighting a good fighter anytime soon. Bo Cantrell? Who the f**k is Bo Cantrell? Tank Abbott? He was never that good, he just looked tough and always got his ass kicked. Now Ken Shamrock? When is Kimbo going to fight a guy who was relevant past 1998? Tito Ortiz, who sucks, destroyed Ken Shamrock three times. It's clear that Gary is going to milk his YouTube cash cow for all he's worth but true fans know that Kimbo is a joke and he would get destroyed against any UFC Heavyweight. Maybe that moron Ken Shamrock will expose Kimbo and he'll go back to fighting guys at the local Burger King. Gary Shaw and his 3rd rate promotion have no f***ing credibility."

Believe me Kimbo is trained properly Bas Rutten is not joke and has been in the game for years.

The problem is Kimbo he admitted to still smoking during that eliteXC press conference...how stupid can you be to still smoke. Another problem is he is 34 years old not exactly prime time to try to get into fighter shape.

I don't think Kimbo is much of anything and if the ref would have followed the rules in his last fight he would have lost.

It was quick, maybe a tap. Regardless the fight should have been stopped due to Kimbo not defending himself. Elitexc has had a bunch of questionable fights.

+1 to that. Fights are stopped all the time if the fighter is not defending themselves. Should have been stopped in the second. It did not look to me like he tapped, but like stated earlier he was telling the ref he was ok.

At 34 your still very much able to be in the kind of shape you need for UFC.

I would agree his career wont go very long due to age, but he could make a real run in the short term.

He reminds me a lot of Bob Sapp, just smaller. A big guy with some power who beats on weaker competition. When he meets someone with a chin that can punch back, he's in trouble. Kimbo is a decent boxer with little to no ground game, I don't think I have seen him throw a kick and he gets winded in his fights. I don't see the athletic ability that is so great and like Method said, he's being trained by Bas Ruten. If he can't train him properly, I don't know who can. Kimbo is a cool story and his street fights are fun to watch, but at this point he's disappointing as a MMA guy. Throw in the fact that EliteXC isn't putting anyone up against him and he's turning into a sideshow.

Hey Guy
At 5'8" and 220, I could drop 15 pounds since I found my thyroid was all ****ed up and being 41 and a long time lifter it adds up in time. You have some advantage than the taller guys.
Being shorter and if you are naturally strong, it is easy to over bulk. Since my high school weight was 175 with a 29 waste, 200 pounds at 41 is a good weight as long as Im not a fat ass. I did find that bulking up slowed me down when I grappled or boxed. Your heart has to circulate a lot of blood to large muscles. This takes away from your performance. If you have natural fast muscle twitch and are athletic it may not effect you that much, so I would concentrate on stretching, core strenght and cardio to keep balance. When you are at a higher weight it does take a toll on your body as you age. I spent so much time, lifting crazy routines, all clean by the way, trying to get bigger and stronger, that I now realize the price I paid. Not to preach here, you will learn on your own, play with the weight, see how you feel, working out clean .I found that after five years I maxed out what I could do. Now I am working my ass off to lower my weight which is not so easy when you have a natural large frame for 5'8", thighs like tree trunks and 17" biceps. I feel stupid at times and cloths are a bitch for my height and weight. But people do seem to give bigger guys respect even if you are a glass jaw. Not that is my reason, I like to test myself and remember why I lift and that there is always someone bigger and better. It's 80% mental 20 physical if that makes sense.

Just a little info here for you. when cooking frozen pizza in the oven its wise to preheat the oven in order for the dough to get crispy. no one likes soggy crust. I would recomend letting it get to full temp before placing it in the oven. I like to test myself and see how dark I can get the cheese. remember remember its 80% oven 20% pizza if that makes any sense as to why this is posted in a Kimbo Slice fight thread.
