View Full Version : My 30-day Nitor experiment begins!

Hey, I just got my Nitor this week (two days before the 10% discount!).
I'm looking to drop as much fat as humanly possible in the next month or so for an upcoming race, and I thought it would be a good idea to share the results.
I will be posting everything I eat, all my workouts, weight and bodyfat percentage (as shown on my Tanita scale) for 30 days starting tomorrow.
Wish me luck.

Good luck Willie. Are you still following the TNT diet?

Good luck Willie. Are you still following the TNT diet?
Yes sir, I am still on Plan A and I am following it very strictly. I plan to continue with Plan A for the duration of these 30 days, which will mean an 8-week Plan A, rather than 4.

The most obvious effect today was the appetite suppressant. Between 1230 and 2030, I ate very little and wasn't really hungry when I was called to supper. I rode my bike around a little while tuning it up. I was able to nap for about an hour around 1400, so the stimulant effect was not over-the-top. I noticed that I was warm, despite the temps only around 78 today, after the second dose. No jitters at all.
I ate about 200 calories more than I intended. I'm trying to stay around 1700, which is about 500 below my maintenance (I think) to maximize fat loss. Could be from the lack of food before supper?

2.4 lbs in one day? Incredible!
(At first I thought it might be scale error. The bodyfat percentage number is calculated through BIA (bio-electrical Impedance Analysis) and it fluctuates probably up to 4% due to hydration levels etc., so I use it as is just a reference point. The basic weight measurement, however, is spot on. I did it three times in a row.
There is usually some variation from day-to-day, but 193.6 is by far the lowest it's been since I started TNT. 196 is not unusual and I've hit 195 on occasion, but I haven't hit 194, much less 193, since starting on 08/11/08 (I was at 204.0).
Since going to three-day-per-week workouts, my chins, dips and pull-ups have declined per set. I used to do one set per day, but I did them everyday, and I could do 16. now, I am doing anywhere between 17 and 25, but in 3 sets.?
I am a little shaky after today's work-out. I spilled some creatine on the counter while trying to get it into the Nalgene bottle.

I'd probably stick with once a week if you want to be accurate

I thought about that, but since I chart it anyway, I think it's OK to mark down the day-to-day fluctuations. It shows that fat loss isn't linear.

I Just realized you said you are dropping weight for a race, but doing plan A of the TNT diet. If I'm not mistaken, isn't plan A essentially low to no carbohydrates? How are you going to maintain training intensity/endurance with such little to eat.

You are correct. TNT plan A is low carb. I am in my 5th week of Plan A. The first few weeks were difficult, so I scaled back the intensity of my aerobic work and focused on doing just slow endurance and weights. I have started back on the bike and run at a higher pace and I do notice that I "bonk" a little quicker.
I think the advantage is that my body is learning to fuel itself from fat stores, which is precisely what I need for endurance efforts. That said, my intention is to do a "re-load" day the night before my event, as outlined in Plan B. I am going to make an effort to consume more calories from today. The last two days, I have been WAY under. I'm trying to stick to around 1700-2000, but I got less than 1300 the last two days.
Nitor really does supress apetite. :)

Morning weight is 192.4.
Up and out early for a special project at work, then physical therapy at 0630. I got around to weights in the evening, and even though I progressed, I could tell that I didn't have full energy, even though I did get a decent 45 minute nap at 6 pm.
As for the diet, I think getting up so early resulted in me being more hungry during the day. The extra 5 hours awake meant that I ate about 700-1000 calories more than I was aiming for, but it probably also comes from under-eating the last two days. I over ate carbs, mostly from the fried okra and green beans I had at Dickies, but damn they were good! :)
Oh, I set a personal best on Deadlifts tonight, and I could probably have gone more. I will.

From Friday 9/12/08 around 0930 to Monday 9/15/08 around midnight:
Diet-
In addition to monster doses of vitamin C and NyQuil (the original "green death" flavor), I ate a ton of whatever-the-hell-I-wanted to include a couple of Wendy's burgers, two large Frosty's, several bottles of lemon-lime gatorade, about a gallon of skim milk, maybe a quart of orange juice, at least one and a half quarts of ice cream, a half of a 14" pizza, and an order of breadsticks with ranch dressing.
Low-carb, schmo-carb, I needed cold, milky goodness.
Training-
After hours of not-very-good sleeping, I would limp to the couch (still suffering from that crappy tendonitis) where I slept or dozed while watching the "Burn Notice" and "House" marathons in their entirety, as well as a bunch of TV shows about UFO's and the American Revolution.
On occasion I would toter to the kitchen to retrieve some sort of food stuff from the refrigerator.
Sometimes, I would think about moving.
I probably burned some calories shivering.
And sweating.
At the same time.
Notes-
In case you aren't aware, having the flu sucks.

Morning weight is 199.2.
The added junk I ate while sick was very obvious on the scale and tape measure, but I needed it and it's just fat.
Despite that I am feeling loads better than I was, it's pretty darn obvious that I am still very much under the weather. I felt OK enough to go to the office today and do my laundry tonight after supper.
I very briefly considered a short, easy ride, but I'm still sniffling and have a slight fever, so I didn't. I'm also still hawking up those multi-colored hunks of semi-solid goo from the nether regions of my throat and blowing hunks of bloody snot-n-boogers out of my nose every hour or so, so I'm still pretty sick, but at least the shivering and sweating is over and my eating is back to normal(-ish).
I have decided to do no weights or hard cardio until Monday. I will do some walking this week and maybe a easy ride, lest I beat up my immune system again.
EDIT:
After realizing that I ate less than 1000 calories, even though I'm not hungry at all, I made myself a shake.

I woke up this morning about 30 minutes before my alarm clock was set to go off. I still have a slight fever and some aches here and there, but I'm able to breathe pretty well through my nose this morning after a good round of honking out goo and boogers. The noise made my dog bark at me from the bedroom this morning, so it must have been pretty gruesome sounding!
If I keep improving at this pace, I may lift on Friday. I'll go for a short walk tonight after supper, maybe even a short bike ride.
In an effort to up my calories (and because I was lazy and did not make my lunch) I ended up stopping at Taco Bell for lunch today. I'm not terribly pleased at the carbohydrate amounts in the food. I thought I was getting the high fat/high protein stuff, but I didn't realize it was so high until I got back to the office and checked it online.
The amounts are off because I only ate the "guts" and not the tortilla shells, but I'm sure there's more carbs there than I need for TNT. Wierdly, the crunchy taco is the lowest carb item on the menu (13g), so Taco Bell is out from now on. I guess I'll stick with Panda Express when I forget/don't take a lunch.
At least I was able to get calories up, though.
I still have the sniffles and stuffy nose, so I only went for a short walk.
