There are tons of great threads about whey protein on this forum. However, there is still 1 question that I have that wasn't answered on the forum.

Should we cycle through whey protein? To shock the body, for the sake of a difference taste, etc

Or stick with what works for you forever? Effectiveness doesn't decrease over time

i am currently using EAS Whey Protein from Costco. Under $30 for a 6lb bag. Good cholesterol/protein/calories ratio.

lol cycle protein. Sorry, it just sounds funny.

Absolutely not. You don't shock your body by changing the sources of protein you consume. You need to consume enough protein in order for you to grow, period. Using whey just makes it a whole lot easier.

I've been using EAS whey for well over 3 yrs now, its great.

Ok so no need to cycle thru protein. Just take enough daily and switch if I get tired of EAS chocolate.

No need to cycle protein. Don't even use that word when talking about this.

To make things clear:

You need a sufficient amount of protein to grow. If you're in need of, say 1-1.5 grams per pound of lean body mass, then you need around (this is a guess) 200 grams/day at your weight. Can you imagine eating that much with real food? A chicken breast has approximately 30 grams. That would mean you would need to eat about 7/day. So, to avoid that we just use protein supplements to help with this.

Now, you simply wont grow if you don't consume enough CALORIES. That is the bottom line. I don't care if you consume more than enough protein, you wont grow unless you eat enough of everything else as well. So, eat eat and eat some more. That includes foods containing good fats ans complex carbs. Make your own Big Boy shakes if you find it hard to eat enough. Search "Shake" and you should find lots of recipes.

There are lots of discussion on this forum elaborating on what I just said. If you don't like the EAS, sure, switch it up! You need to understand that your body always needs protein, and supplements just take place of real food.
