I'm a 5-11, 160 college student trying to bulk up. I have never been a huge eater, but when I do eat I eat a lot of protein. If I drink 2 shakes a day I could easily eat 150-200 grams of protein a day. I eat small amounts of fat/carbs though. A typical day consists of eating 170 cal of yogurt(which has around 15 grams of protein) along with 2 cups of skim milk. At lunch I'll have a shake and grilled chicken and some string cheese. For dinner I'll have a burrito which has more carbs/fat but isn't a ton. I'll also have a shake with that.

In total this caloric amount is probably around 2000 with 600 coming from the shakes(which I mix with milk). I get around 600-700 calories from protein but in total only. Should I add more fat and carbs to my diet in order to gain more muscle or will a diet like this work because I'm getting sufficient protein?

You will not gain weight. At 160lbs you should be eating close to 4,000 cals while bulking. Give or take a couple hundred depending on your activity level during the day. You need a sufficient amount of fats in your diet as well. Start consistently eating big and you will get big. Its not easy to eat a lot but you will get past that.

I am 155lbs, 5'10" and am trying to bulk up as well.

Thanks, world - will take your advice and down 4000 kcal per day. Valuable from a person like you with a success story behing (saw your progress)

But any advice as to what sort of food to eat and how to divide my meal portion across the day?
